Since my save file was lost and had to repeat the first 9 stages again, I ended up just rushing through them trying to finish as fast as possible. Well, the kill outcome is kind of funny. You don't see ships as top aces that often, unless you're actually trying to do so. Calvina was my top ace in the first run, but now I didn't upgrade anything so far, so her power output was a bit lower. Oh well, now I'm starting to play normally again so hope she gets up again.

Also J is surprisingly interesting to play with no upgrades. Maybe some retreating boss will need them, but atm the game is pretty easy with no upgrades.

I tried out a "fresh" run of J with the enemies getting like, 5-6 bars of upgrades on everything using a cheat code (the max is something like 20 upgrades?) and it's surprisingly tough. All my units are favorited but it doesn't really amount to much, enemies hit insanely hard and are super dodgy.

It doesn't fix J's AI problems and the game design, but the game might be tougher if they had time limits on more stages and they buffed enemy damage/evasion/accuracy like they give you the option to on NG+ runs because I'm actually having fun by being more careful allocating spirit use and abusing support relationships to help in dodging and hitting

For example, grunts can do reasonable damage on Mazinkaiser!

You're not supposed to buy nor play with any English translation. There's nothing wrong with the animus line and the English translation looks perfectly fine. The "Die Granteed" line can be attributed to a translator looking only at text with no context which will undoubtedly be fixed in QC. The animus and singlish shitposting is completely baseless. The animus thing isn't even that big of a fuck-up. If aything, it's **too accurate** of a translation.

It was bad a lot in the early games before Kaiser was a thing because its lategame upgrade was the Jet Scrander and it always lagged in basically every stat to your other Supers, and in the Winkysoft system being a 1 pilot Super is only good if you've got bullshit power or dodgeability or something.

Also as >>14562129 mentioned, Shin Mazinger in OE was HORRID in the early patches, it couldn't do fucking anything. They buffed the shit out of it later, gave it actual armor and better/more attack properties (Rust Hurricane got a big buff as memory serves), and of course in later chapters it gets Big Bang Punch for an actual finisher, so it's not as bad, even if Kouji has no fucking accuracy mod spirits come on game designers what the fuck.

Is there any point in using Akito and Akatsuki in SRWJ? All Aestivalis have the same attacks, except the trio can do combination attacks, so they seem like the better option. Akito did have a good move, but with Gai gone for most of the game, he's kind of stuck.

Combattler debuts partway through its plot, you fight Oreana and Garuda (Garuda has a CG about him fighting Combattler) somewhere in like Act 1 Scene 4, and then in Act 2 you see hints of the second half enemies (on their way to Earth as you were taking down Oreana) before they show up in full in the last part of the game.

At least, in Impact that's how it works.

Akito's basically there for when you get Gai back, IIRC Double Gekigan Flare beats the 3 Aesti combos in terms of power (and definitely does for usability). He's also a good mook killer since he can spam the shit out of Gekigan Flare, since he has effective infinite EN, so use that to keep him leveled.

Akatsuki never gets partners and thus never has any boss killing ability. Only use him if you're 'avin a giggle and want to use the X-Aestivalis. (On the plus side, he's still better in J than in W. W Akatsuki was horrible piss.)

Yes, you can put him in the X-Aesti in W's second half.

I think I actually prefer the Aesti 2 purely because it can get up to 40 ammo in that one attack of his if you decide to make him an artillery god in the first half it'll pay off slightly.

X-Aesti will never be horrible really.

The Alstromeria has 4000 base AP for 10 EN and can Boson Jump, and its pilot has Fortitude and Soul.
It is automatically better than every other Nadesico unit in W bar the Black Selena.
