Has any legitimately good mecha series been conceived since the turn of the century? I feel like being a /m/an just has me watching animated time capsules, and while I don't mind, nothing new seems to pull at my interest. I've given some of the more topical series a try (IBO, AZ, etc) but it just doesn't do it for me.
Yes. I've heard good things about Kuromukuro, and Active Raid is very good. G-Reco is a show I'd recommend, as well as Build Fighters. M3 was fantastic, and Argevollen wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything amazing.

00 was good as was Build Fighters and Thunderbolt.
Kuromukuro is a good mecha show. Maybe not a great one, but it was definitely good.
Shin Mazinger
Stellvia of the Universe
Godannar
King Gainer
Majestic Prince
Gundam SEED
Kotetsushin Jeeg is fairly amusing, as long as you're aware that its continuity is separate from the Jeeg manga and Toei anime.
Fafner.

All of these, plus Gaiking, >>14561352 Heroman and I'll personally throw Gargantia onto this list but I know that's a polarizing pick for some so you can take that or leave it.
Try Zegapain
If you're wiling to judge the shows on there own merits and not just parrot what you've read. Give code geass and gurren laggan a try. You'll either love them or hate them. Argevolllen and Kuromukuruo could entertain you.
If you like ecchi stuff try Goddanner, vandread, or diamidlaler
if tenchi is your spead isekaii.
If you like older franchises give kotetsushin jeeg or Shin Mazinger a chance.
If patlabor is your speed try active raid.
Fact of the matter is I don't know you or what you like, Mr. Anonymous. Just have fun and try stuff. Personally, it sounds to me like you don't want to enjoy things.

Oh, forgot about Gun X Sword. Try it out, OP, it even has a good dub.

FLAG is pretty good. And 00 is still probably the best overall Gundam entry this side of 2000.
