I don't hate her. She's pretty cute as far as elves go. But she's totally useless. On the battlefield and in her "relationship" with Hayate.
You really can't dispute these facts. Furthermore we're already at episode 17 out of 26 the time to redeem her is less and less.

I'd suggest you're getting jumped because you're conflating a character's personality with how useful they are. Which is kind of silly. And also because you're ignoring that while Mirage has never really done anything, Freyja herself hasn't done anything besides sing and make silly faces since episode 6 or so, when she was accepted in to Walkure and managed to have a successful concert and gain acceptance. Even that's being generous, since she didn't even really have to do anything to gain acceptance. I might as well claim Mirage was useful for those episodes since she trained Hayate successfully or something. Even Hayate isn't terribly interesting as a character frankly.

I played some of the Ace Combat games a long time ago, played some of AC3 (never finished it) and completed AC4, 5 and Zero. For some reason the whole Belka thing didn't leave a mark for me because I can't even tell which of the AC games had something about it in their plot. Pretty sure AC3 had nothing to do with the following games though. Do the Belka memes come from one of the post-Zero games or is my memory that fucking bad?
>>
>>14537159
While I think that Satelight's 3dCGI is better than people make it sound, their texturing is really bad.
>>
>>14537162
It's from ZERO, of course. Belka was one of the main antagonists in there. and they eventually branched out to 5 and 6.

He doesn't even think he's in love though. Last episode Mirage directly asked if he had a crush on her and he said he didn't know, that her being a partner wasn't right and that if finding her fun was the sign of a start to a relationship like Mirage suggested it was news to him. He's just dense so that the whole thing can be dragged out as long as possible. He doesn't have bug feelings for either yet and probably won't till the last episode. Maybe the second to last.

>>14537203
>8492.flac plays in the background

5 was the one that introduced Belka, actually, as the not-Germany that lost The War™ years ago (and is secretly causing the current not-US vs not-USSR one to happen), Zero is more or less a prequel since it's set in said war.
Does Belka play a role in 6? Never played it, doesn't it take place in a different continent altogether?

>>14537212
>tfw the Grey Men are actually the command stuff of Megaroad 1
>>
>>14537220
>Does Belka play a role in 6?
Very, very indirectly. One of the Stovie aces, Lorenz Ridel aka Feniks, was Gault 7. Some of the Stovie scientists and military officers were hint to be Belkan refugees as well.
>>
>>14537211
I think he's starting to feel things now, after Mirage mentioned it. But who knows, this is Kawamori: maybe the thing about the broken triangle means no one will end up with no one.
>>
>>14537221
And they're undermining NUNS because of whatever they saw in the center of the galaxy?
>>
>>14537226

I hope not, even if only because all the sad faces and longing looks will end up even more pointless if he goes the 7 route again. The whole thing is the worst part of Delta along with the failure to deliver on dancing variable fighters.

Hell, being seemingly 'abandoned' just because they lost contact for a few years might stir up some revenge plot, I guess.
>>
>>14537245

60 years with no contact is hardly 'a few'. If they want revenge for lack of resources and support after making no contact in 60 years it'll only paint the entire crew as idiots.
>>
>>14537257
Them needing resources would not work.

>>

Constant attacks can still rekt shit. And if the Macross Galaxy was any indication, it could also be a mind meld by some other alien form.
Of course I'm just putting out theories for fun. I'm still convinced about Windermere being SPESS BELKA tho.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSckBZczS6c
>>
>>14537268

I don't doubt constant attacks can wreck a fleet or that even a Marcross one is vulnerable to some forces. The point isn't that they can't get beaten, it's that coming to the conclusion you're being ignored or abandoned after 60 years of silence is moronic. Even making that conclusion after 60 hours is stupid, since a military, scientific and civilian outfit like them has no reason to assume abandonment above faulty equipment and ignorance on the part of those they're trying to contact if they can't reach them. Especially as f they actually run in to problems with some external force.
>>
>>14537278
All jokes aside though, I'm pretty curious about Epsilon's motivations. Sure the hunt for all Protoculture knowledge might be one, but there's definitely an underlying factor there.

I'd say Mercenary is harder since you have to destroy as many yellow targets as possible if not all of them, and that's a hassle in some missions and in the beginning since you have to make even more of an effort to force the needle Mercenary-wards.
Soldier is easier once you reach balance and if you make the math in advance and already have an idea of how many targets you need to destroy to remain in the middle.

We've been calling Freyja (and all the Windies) runes as a hairpenis for a while now. It's especially come to a head when Freyja let Hayate touch her rune while smiling and not calling him ecchi like in the first episodes. Also, I'd bet that her taking her hands off her rune and letting it pulsate right in Hayate's face is probably the Windies equivalent of something like taking off your bra in front of the man.

And his actual reaction makes it looks like he's being overwhelmed in a rather negative way, especially since there the camera zooms in on him gaping and the sound appears to fade away. His later line comes off more as him wanting to reassure someone or maybe himself because of it. Also I don't think he blushed at Freyja.

Apparently Kawamori didn't want one initially but the sponsors said to put one in, probably because of tradition

>>
>>14538658

I stand corrected then.

>>14538680

I have no idea what you're on about.
>>
>>14538684

SDF is really the only Macross show with a triangle. Maybe II as well, since I can't remember that one. Basara was supposed to be part of a triangle in 7 and just never gave a shit or engaged in it at all. Ranka was supposed to be part of one in Frontier but Alto never indicated any kind of return of her feelings. Mao was supposed to be part of a triangle in 7 but was always treated as a kid with a crush by the show. Guld was supposed to be part of a triangle in Plus and even slept with Myung, but she never showed any real interest in him romantically and I can't see how someone could think she was ever going to choose him. Kawamori putting in apparent triangles and then not paying attention to them is nothing new in Macross, never mind any of the rest of his stuff.
>>
>>14538701
A triangle is a triangle if there's 3 people, and all of these 3 people either like or a liked by someone else in the trio. That's it.

You're talking about some form of love competition that a triangle can and often will turn into

I don't know where this idea that people needed to overthink the idea of a love triangle (probably due to all the harem manga and shit) but as long as there are three people in some kind of romantic entanglement in any form of degree it is a love triangle

Also, about II, it really only became a love triangle in the last episode and it was fucking shit
>>
>>14538714

If they're all triangles, then this is too for the same reason you just posted since Mirage clearly has feelings for Hayate and has had for 10 episodes or so now, same as Freyja. If this isn't a triangle because Mirage doesn't have a chance (though the show is really stringing the idea along) then none of those are because one side was always clearly left stranded in them too.
>>
>>14538734
Nobody said it wasn't one. It just isn't an equal one or one that had any intentions of being anything other than it's main pairing (like Zero)
>>
>>14538747

This line of inquiry started off exactly because someone thought there wasn't one (>>14538654), so yea, they kind of did actually.
>>
>>14538734

To clarify, I'm >>14538654 and I was joking about how one sided and barely there the triangle in Delta is (which is funny, given the series' name), Mirage's relationship with Hayate is pretty much nothing compared to Freyja's. Most of the time she's just kinda there, like the show doesn't even want to bother giving her much screentime chemistry with Hayate since she's gonna lose anyway.

I mean the show has physically passed the point where they could do something in Mirage's direction without it being an asspull of unbelievable proportions, right?

I mean, all it phyiscally would take would be one line of dialouge, but my point is rather, could they even set it up at this point to not be an asspull? As in, is it physically possible anymore?
>>
>>14538786
Bogue will split them apart
>>
>>14538793

>>
>>14538775

I figured, but it's really nothing unusual in a franchise with 7, Zero and Plus. I'd say Ranka had more focus in Frontier, but even with more focus she was largely treated as a non-entity in the love triangle. Freyja is probably going to win but personally I'm kind of sick of her character and never really liked her archetype of a blushing teen girl fumbling through love. Mirage is a rather boring character who is never explored or given anything to do, but I like the idea of her character and at least the show isn't constantly fellating how awesome she is to the point I'm sick of her. I'm not really a big fan of any of the characters in Delta though, and am in it more for the conflict and setting than for them. I'd say I was in it for dancing variable fighters and battlefield idols too, but after episode one those basically got dropped so it's only a lie at this point.

I don't actually. The one interaction they had that I recall she calls the Knights out for wasting food and puts Bogue on the spot, with even Hermann and Cashim sympathizing with her and saying she showed up Bogue.

>>
>>14541446

>>
>>14541447

What about the non-limited editions?
>>
>>14541491
I don't know.
>>
>>14541482

The one in Delta was probably a tactical warhead with a reduced payload. Even then it still created a fold fault preventing easy access to the planet and is still causing atmospheric effects 7 years later. Which a 20th century nuke wouldn't do. It might irradiate the area for 20, 000 years as a passive effect, but it wouldn't still be crackling years later.

I'd also guess that it exploded mid-air and not on contact given the size of the crater and footage we've seen.
>>
>>14541482
>done more damage.
Depends on how you define damage.

Dimension Eaters are more of a case of removing everything in its range from existence.

Besides, the really big one in Frontier is the one used on Gallia IV which took like 1/3 of the planet. The others are much smaller.
>>
>>14541491
There is no limited edition.
>>
>>14541491
The limited editions are like first press offers. You get like a box for storing etc. It's not that there's a regular version sold

That said, there's actually special special versions, that include limited edition artwork on posters, or a larger box, that depended on what outlet you bought the show on, and they require you to buy all 9 discs. Those're sepperate listings though, but they wouldn't be rocking super high numbers.
>>
>>14541495

At the 2/3 point of the Cold War, the USSR (and likely the US too) were already technically able to produce warheads with enough destructive power that a strike would have, based on simulations at the time, caused a nuclear winter on Earth. Now, Windermere may actually be a lot bigger than Earth (haven't checked) and have a different atmosphere, but I'm still surprised that something so powerful and futuristic that it made reaction weapons obsolete didn't do more. Pic in >>14541448 actually fits the kind of damage that I'd expect.
>>
>>14541532
As mentioned, different scale.

The big one is most probably considered overkill to the extent that its impractical.

And Dimension Eaters need fold quartz which is rare, the amount of fold quartz needed to make a big one like in >>14541448 would probably be enough to make more smaller ones instead.
>>
>>14541532

I'd call bullshit on that, since the Tsar Bomba was the largest nuclear detonation ever made and it only had a yield of 50 megatonnes. Even it's maximum expected yield was only 100 tonnes if I recall, and that's only about 25% of the power of something like the explosion of Krakatoa. If simulations really did say they could technically cause a nuclear winter, then I'm betting either those simulations were faulty or were operating on a "worst cases scenario, let's assume everything else goes as bad as possible" field as well.

I don't know what size Windermere is compared to Earth (though I'd bet similar size due to it being easier on sci-fi writing), but the size of the blast isn't the only measure of how advanced something is. The main advantage and advancement of reaction weapons was that there was no nuclear fallout radiation to worry about, though they probably had a higher possible yield too. MDE's have a higher possible yield as >>14541448 showed, but just because your bomb can have that yield doesn't mean you build every warhead to achieve it. Smaller yields are often useful for tactical purposes.
>>
>>14541545

Fair enough. I'm guessing the effect of dimensional weapons is to transport matter somewhere else through folding? Or does it actually send the matter to another dimension?
>>
>>14541557
>A type of high-energy reaction warhead utilizing "super" heavy quantum to achieve a gravitational-dimensional collapse in three-dimensional space (real space) similar to a black hole. Mechanically simple, a dimension eater consists of a resonance fold pulse generator that uses fold quartz within a storage vessel for the super heavy quantum fuel that creates the destructive reaction.
>Once initiated the dimension eater produces a " pseudo-black hole" effect of intense gravity called a "super gravitational field" that violently transitions itself and everything caught within the field into fold space.

The main effect is a temporary black hole that compresses all matter to an infinitesimally small point for a short time before it collapses in a massive explosion I think. It's just a big bomb using super dimension energy and heavy quantum stuff same as the Macross guns. I don't think it folds matter elsewhere and the fold fault on Windermere is unique to that explosion in the franchise as far as I know, since I don't think the ones on Gallia IV or elsewhere caused fold issues.

Not really, because it doesn't just fold stuff in to super dimensional space and call it a day - it implodes/compresses everything and folds the remains away. Just folding on its own wouldn't be much good since they could probably just fold back.

Well it's Bogue though so it's okay
>>
>>14541845
It didn't look like Bogue knew what he was doing.
>>
>>14541933

Does somebody have a translation of the buttons on the hologram phone Bogue was holding?
>>
>>14541988
I don't speak Moon but it doesn't look like kanji at all.
It's most likely a "Windermerean" version of the word pay.

He's clicking that stuff out of shock and there's probably no real turn it off button.
>>
>>14542047

Looks like moonrunes to me. Also, it ain't a pay button, there's already a charge button and one shaped like a coin.
The balance doesn't change either when he presses it. It's probably a "fanservice" button that triggers things like showing lewd pics based on the owner's balance (same as Makina's case earlier), hence Reina's reaction afterwards.

Okay, looking at it a second time, the lower one looks kind of like the symbol for gold.

Still think all of them say the same thing considering all are written in a different script.
>>
>>14542133

There might be one button for each member of Walkure, with a script difference meant to represent something about each of them.
>>
>>14542144
Or maybe is just different languages: english, japanese, ragnese, windermerese... They're trying to reach the widest audience, after all.
>>
>>14542167
>There is a language that is literally coins
>>
>>14542243

Probably for whatever space-races that don't have a written language (or dumbfuck humies who can't read).

Considering that concert was a carrier for electronic attack I would say that each button is assigned to a planet or sector and users by clicking are installing botnet themselfs. Better dispersion and allows for precise map of where worm has already nested itself.
>>
>>14542292
>(or dumbfuck humies who can't read)
Wouldn't that be more suited for orks?
>>
>>14542651
I think that would be dumb, say someone at wind planet knew and liked jew lenguage if he clicked it they would install the different virus, each of the buttons probably has the same virus on there
>>
It just occurred to me but how many actual concerts have we had in this show? Like 3?
>>
>>14541495
>It might irradiate the area for 20, 000 years as a passive effect, but it wouldn't still be crackling years later.

Um, 20,000 years is plenty significant to a race with a 30-year lifespan.
>>
>>14541845

reina complaining is clearly fanservice, though. people picking reina like her tsun personality, so her deriding them for being cheap is actually what they're looking for.
>>
>>14542729
Depends on how we define "actual concert"

Stage, audience, light show etc? 3 have all three of those elements.

If we include more impromptu ones, we get more than that.
>>
Next episode is about plot?
>>
>>14542843
It's the first actual meeting of the main characters with a Knight that doesn't involve murder intentions so probably very important yes

Noticed some assume Freyja will die at exactly 30 when we have two Windermeran characters, Herman and Gramia, who lived past that age.

Also, anyone excited by the idea of a Macross Delta movie adaption?
>>
>>14542901
Their official lifespan is stated to be 30-35. Even if she makes it to 35 it's still not much.
>>
>>14542793

It's a significant length of time to anyone that doesn't measure time using eons. The point isn't that radiation doesn't stay around a long time, but that a modern nuke has different effects and bad as radiation is, other effects, like an atmospheric effect or fold one can be just as significant in different ways.
>>
It's not much but it's still more which is a plus for these two. 20 years of GoriGori-ing!
>>
>>14542901
30 is more like a median age
>>
>>14542923
>radiation doesn't stay around a long time

You clearly don't understand how radiation works.
>>
>>14542917

Do all Windermereans go through the "grey skin falling apart" thing like the king did when they reach their final years or was that just from him being a stubborn dude who lived way longer than the others? At least we know they don't get wrinkles from last episode.
>>
>>14542961

You clearly don't get basic comprehension. I wasn't say that radiation doesn't stay around a long time, I was saying that the point of the quoted post wasn't that radiation had a long half life but that other effects can be just as devastating in other ways.
>>
>>14542970
Herman has the dry skin too, it's how old age shows in them.
>>
>>14542970
a few other older characters have the white rash thing going on, so I'd presume it's some sort of accelerated genetic decay that kills them.
>>
>>14542994
>You clearly don't get basic comprehension.

Says the person who thinks one WMD isn't as bad another WMD, despite both being terrible things to begin with.
>>
>>14543057

Are you just determined to find something to be angry about? And yes, while all WMDs are bad, just like death of any kind is bad, some WMDs are worse than others. The matter dimension eater used on Gallia IV is objectively worse than a nuke. A nuke is bad and you can't live in the area for millinea, but if a quarter of a planet simply disappears and can never be lived on again, not even in 4 billion years, then that is worse.
