The Rebuilds are fine. 1.0 was a good retelling of the first few episodes, 2.0 was excellent and introduced enough new material, and 3.0 had some great meta commentary and totally caught me off guard. Anno had to do things differently otherwise we would just get a rehash of the TV series.
