No. Not even as a compilation film. It's horribly compressed and the pacing is like a meteor during atmospheric entry. FB7 was done as to commemorate the the show's 15th anniversary and hopefully sell some more albums.

To be fair, Macross 7 is totally skippable. Nothing it did gets carried over into the franchise canon and is basically the ZZ of Macross in that it's understood to exist but never acknowledged as anything more than a silly 50-episode side story. It's sole purpose was to sell J-rock albums.

Not so much. They're both really their own separate stories. They have the same basic plot just retold in a different way with several notable differences not unlike SDF and DYRL. Only about half the scenes were repurposed in the first movie and the second movie is practically all-new animation.

I recommend watching the movies over the TV show, but you'll have to watch both if you want the full Macross F experience.

Isamu is a hotheaded hero, and to him piloting is what singing is to Basara, but he's also immature and constantly run from his problems to avoid confronting them. Then, Guld is the complete opposite, a fucking Zentraedi ace who's cold and logical on the surface but with a barely contained anger related to his Zentraedi blood, which shows that even if Zentraedis integrated themselves in the human community, there's still a long way to go. And also a fucking idol AI, awesome mecha designs, top-tier animation and soundtrack, and an incredible visual creativity. It's not perfect, and there's no problem with you disliking it, but it's objectively good.
