Would a VF-25 be at a significant disadvantage vs. a Siegfried

Performance-wise, the machines should be fairly close such that pilot skill is more important here.

The disadvantages the 25 would have depends on the loadout.
VF-25 on its own doesn't really have much when it comes to weapons unless they use the hardpoints to mount missiles, or they let it dual wield gunpods. The VF-25 is very basic when it comes to its armaments on its own, its main strength is its multi-role capability and the ability to take a lot of packs.
A VF-31 or a Draken would have the additional beam gun on a swivel mount and they have the rapid fire guns on each arm as well.

Isn't the 29 supposed to be better than the 31/Draken as well?

The Siegfried is lightly armed and has a lot of potential weapon hard points dedicated to non lethal gear that support walkure instead.

VF-31A Kairos, would probably be better comparison, but it really shouldn't be compared to full armor >>14457220 like, unless it get's its own equivalent. So far we've only seen fast packs for VF-31, which should be compared to the VF-25's fast pack, not full armor.

We can't judge this until we see VF-31 with Armor Packs.

LAI, Stonewell, General Galaxy and Shinsei Industries all make some, and some fleets internally manufacture their own units, like the Frontier fleet if I recall. There might be others too.

The VF-25 is a multi-role fighter, but light on actual weapons and really needs the different packs to shine. The VF-31 is more heavily armed and less dependent on packs at the very least. No idea if it offers any other advantages.

Interesting, I just feel that it's a little weird that there sems to be different arms suppliers that I assume all fall under the purview of NUN and NUNS supplying enemies of the state.
But with the fleet production I guess it could work, like the enemy valks in Macross 7 that no one recognized as human made.

Frontier, like pretty much everyone else, licensed designs from Earth-based defense contractors. SMS had access to the VF-25 because they were doing field trials. It was just those crimers over at Galaxy who did their own thing, and they still used leaked VF-24 schematics as a base.

While the cockpit and battroid chest certainly evokes the YF-24, the color of Breras unit, the forward swept canards and wings way in the back reminded me more of the SV-51

The 25 certainly couldn't relay fold waves, only the 29, 30, and the 31(Which is apparently based off the 30) could.
Delta squad is using the 31s for relaying Walkure's song because those have a similar system to the 29's Fold Wave system without being stupidly expensive like the 29 was and still being general purpose enough.
