What would be a plausible and rational in-universe (IN-UNIVERSE, NOT META) justification for building giant sentient robot girls and making them fight each other?

And why isn't there a manga about it already?
All giant robot girls I've found so far aren't sentient or autonomous at all.

The creation of giant sentient robot girls who fight each other would have to be motivated by a very urgent and serious situation.

we already have robots with AI that fight each other, once human scale robots get less expensive for tinkering, expect robo-wrestling AI to begin development. for spectacle, giant robot fight events will be treated like a monster truck rally or WWE event.

I think it'd be more realistic for them not to be gigantic.

But more importantly; why would they be sentient AND have a pilot?

Also what if their pilot got a real girlfriend? Would they get jealous?

Of course not.
They'd fuck inside the giant robot.

A situation like Yukikaze. Mankind uses more conventional mecha with powerful AI. Has to fight aliens who copy human tech and alter it. The aliens therefore have mechs with AI too. At some point they assimilate a girl like in Muv-Luv and bam, sentient female piloted mecha.

This is how I rationalize Frame Arms Girls.

"the aliens are dumb and build impractical robots" isn't a very rational justification since it hinges upon aliens just happening to do dumb shit with the stuff they scavenge.

>>14414619
I'll try to bullshit a reason, I guess.

When they went and developed the first proper functioning AI, the amount of processing power needed was way over the processing power of a human brain because they were figuring things out and optimizing shit as they go, this ended up making the first AI having a massive supercomputer array for a brain.
Years later, they optimized it, and ended up having a lot of spare processing power. Some hardware was taken to make another AI, some extra capabilities were added to use the extra processing power. The "brain" for the AIs was still huge though, and they taught the AI enough stuff for long enough that it started to have a self-image(which was heavily based off people's image of it) that is of a normal girl.
Then the AIs started to get more hardware added, more sensors, more moving parts, and some get a human-sized android to use to interact with people.

The androids were successful, but the concern of the AIs losing connection to their androids was slowly getting bigger, what with people stealing the androids when the connection goes off for whatever reason and dismantling it for parts to sell and shit like that.

Then someone had the great idea of strapping the huge supercomputer array and its power supply into a large robot(Its a girl, of course) to "solve" the problem the androids. The unveiling of the giant robot girl had a bit of a shitstorm with a lot of "What the fuck?" from people worldwide.
More AIs demanded from their operators that they want something similar, and more robot girls were built for AIs of various nations.

Then one day, during a meeting between the representatives of 2 countries(with the robot girls there as representatives as well), negotiation got heated and broke down, and the 2 robot girls started a massive fistfight and their huge wrestling rampage had to be stopped by robot girls from other nations. That was the beginning of the Giant Robot Girl fighting matches.
>>
>>14419422
Yeah it doesn't work very well.
Your premise is a world where people want to create a functioning AI at any cost and will go to ridiculous lengths to make it happen without any concern for its practical uses.
>>
>>14419460
>without any concern for its practical uses.
Well, its fiction.

We can make up a fictional use for them, or go full Kawakami and build an entire world with multiple in-universe reasons for the development of AI.

In my head the justification for this kind of thing was that the tech required for giant mecha was the brainchild of one scientist, who happened to be a massive pervert.

The mecha happen to be really good because (technobabble handwave) but militaries are reluctant to use them because they look like giant girls.

Then you eventually get knockoffs and copies which use similar tech but without looking like girls.

That's the weird thing, his early artworks are the direct continuation of Shirow's LATE artworks, but now that they're getting cuter and more compact, they end up seeming more like Shirow's early works (without being nearly 80s enough though).

>>14421210
I classify that under "full-body cyborg dream" type stuff. I mean, fuck, when your universe can support the tech, let the furries go wild, it pacifies them and keeps them busy while we come up with plans to have them ejected to a lunar colony or somethin'.

It could be the aliens trying to use human psychology - a child or female appearence would cause a split second delay in firing, which would be very useful in a battle with instant hit weaponry

Of course if the setting is traditional gender roles, being annihalated by female mecha would be a very effective demoralisation weapon (plus might trigger gender based internal warfare)

Could well be, although it could be argued its a tactic that would lose its effectiveness rapidly so its simply a case they were mass produced and as the units worked well, they stuck with them (either that or the aliens go all Ryusei on them)

I do agree, it could go either way but the black comedy aspect would be something we've not seen yet, selecting the 'wrong stuff' simply as they can do the job, all of them socially maladjusted in some manner, from hikkamoris to full on psychos

How about having a giant sentient robot girl be the center of an entire religion and worshiped like deity or queen?
>>
>>14440405
there would still need to be an explanation for why she was built in the first place.
>>
>>14440409
You could make up any number of explanations, like off the top of my head she could have been designed to be a superior life form to humanity and thus govern over them because the creator believed that humans have reached a glass wall in their development or something or maybe he believes its necessary to create a god.

She could be the leftover creation of some alien species or something.
>>
>>14440419
yeah I'm still not a fan.

It doesn't address the practicality of that design.
>>
>>14440423
If we are talking something that is meant to be regal and stylish and give off an air of divinity then practicality has nothing to do with it. It isn't meant to be a tool its supposed to be something designed with spirituality and to serve as a symbol in mind.

answer for everything.jpg

Pic related.

At the end of the day I don't think there's any one reason we'll all find plausible. Most of the time we can't seem to agree on whether mecha is practical at all.

Of the ones I've seen, >>14431042 sounds about right. The robots being easy to relate to might make civilians more willing to co-operate during evacuations and the giant scale may offer space for small groups of people to ride along in more dangerous situations. Though that doesn't really cover the giant robot girls fighting each other aspect.

In which case, spectacle combat sport like in >>14414744 is your best bet.
