If you could have only watched one Gundam series, which would it be and why?
Definitely not fucking Gundam AGE.
Probably Zeta.
08th MS team
I'm a Zeta fag, but I wouldn't have enjoyed it without MSG. So, probably X. Stand alone, adventurous, cinematic, great score, and it makes me feel.
0080 and GBF are my two favorites, but they require knowledge of other series to be enjoyed to the fullest.
I'd probably go with 00. The best standalone series in the franchise I think, out of the ones that I've seen anyway.
MSG. I'm the kind of boring dude who loves the classics.
>ITT: Shit taste general
Turn A
>>14372217
Tell us, faggot. What's your pick
>>14372217
kek
0079, Turn-A or Reconguista
Mainly because they're all Tomino and don't require you to watch any other series to understand them
>>14372172
G Gundam. Probably not the best Gundam I've watched but it's too important to my childhood, I don't want to forget it.
>>14372236
I don't know, I fell like Turn A loses some magnificence without having watched other series.
For me it's either 0079,Victory,00 or Reco
>>14372172
Between Turn A and 0079. I overall enjoyed Turn A the most, but 0079 is definitely the more definitive Gundam experience, complete with all of the Japanese references and culture based around it.
>>14372172
SEED Destiny. Because if I'm going to only have ever watched one, I want it to be something I'm glad there's no more of.
Build Fighters, so that I can just think 'GUNDAM' was an in-universe show, and not expect more.
Probably 00 or G-Reco since there's a lot of rewatch value and things to unpack.
0079
G, Victory, or 0079. I would like Turn A but like >>14372357 said it really isn't the same.
Probably AGE. It covers the basics well enough that I don't need to watch any of the others.
>>14372172
Wing. No question.
00 or G
>>14372172
00 gundam, cause it is short, complete, coherent, well-designed, well-drawn and has truly Ayy LMAO aliums
>>14374662
I've only watched those two anyway
I would still be into mecha without 00, but I don't know if I would without G.
>>14372172
X or G-reco.
love rewatching them, and would keep doing so.
>>14372172
0079. It's the best one, the most iconic and really, really good on its own merits.
>>14372172
08th MS team.
>>14374768
This
>>14372172
08th MS team. It's Vietnam with mechs and it also comes with some hilarious Romeo and Juliet bits to boot.
Either 0079 or G Gundam
>>14372172
First Gundam. It's a perfect series with a great world-building. Keep constantly growing.
>>14372172
MSG. If you have literally any other answer you have shit taste, especially if you say Zeta.
>>14372172
Either 0079 or Seed. I feel they both offer the most definitive "Gundam" experiences without having to rely on any other entries in the franchise.
>>14375754
came here to post this
Would probably say 0079 more than G though -- I really enjoyed G, but it's also up to its hip in standard shonen pacing+plot issues.
Crazy fun though.
0079 also has its fair share of issues, but I only noticed a lot of them on subsequent viewings.
0079
I could watch it without watching the rest of the UC timeline, but there's no way I would've liked anything UC (or Gundam in general) if 0079 hadn't gotten me into it. It was my intro to the series.
I think Victory Gundam works well as a standalone series, despite being in the UC.
I ended up not caring about the lack of shading after just a few episodes.
