***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, dont make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

Question: Can the RG Qan[T] easily hold the RG 00R's weapons?
>>
>>14362302
The arms and legs of the Qant are exactly the same as the 00, so yes.

>>14362329
I kinda guessed that from looking at the photos, but needed confirmation. thanks m8.

Pretty good, although I would've recommended you start with one of the HG wings because RGs are a little fiddly and it's easy for them to look good but easy for them to look bad as well.
All the same if you have the tools go right into it, they're pretty fun.
The tools are nippers, an xacto knife, 1000 1500 and 2000 grit sandpaper

Yeah eventually they'll clog too badly or just disintegrate from too much wear. I do wash them out after use under the sink and use an old toothbrush to work all the caked up crap out of them so that should prolong the use. In my experience they last much longer than sand paper.

Sage still works as always; in the option field. It's just no longer visible.
>>
>>14362986
The Crossbone Ver Ka is very pretty, and the beam cutlass and cape are pretty nice. It's only down fall is that the hands don't grip the weapons very well, and the beam cutlass is huge compared to the tiny baby hands it has, so it droops a lot. The X-booster is a bit loose, but it might just be because mine is a bit old. Overall, fun kit, cape is cool, but the hands and fiddley bits are a downer.

>>14362920
>doesn't have the 3.0 hands
WELP, I guess that's one less MG to get. I already have the 2.0 and Origin MG, and am only interested in getting more RX-78-clone kits with them 3.0 hands!
>>
>>14363375
But it's not even really a clone given how different it is. It might still carry the name but it's pretty significantly different friend.
>>
>>14363375
Just do a simple hand wrist mod.

Also why did you start posting with a name? Your work is good so I don't mind but just wondering.
>>
>>14363384 #
Nah, I get that it's got it's differences, but the fact it's just the FA-78, plus the all the similarities, and yet no 3.0 hands, just doesn't do it for me. Idk, just personal preference. Maybe one day, when I need a new project, and see all the gimmicks it's got besides armor purge and all the FA bits, I'll think about it, but I'm just not sold on any of these Thunderbolt kits yet.

>>14363396
>Just do a simple hand wrist mod.
Hmmm, on second thought, this might be a fun project. With those DM hands, and he FA-78...this might actually sell it for me.

And idk, just figured I should, since I've made like 7 Barbies now. I'm pretty much the Barbatosfag. I really should get around to finishing the family, just need 3 more Barbies.

Why do you call them 3.0 hands? Nu ver.ka was the first kit to use them. The 3.0 was like the third or 4th.

There's also a couple third party versions of them if that's all that's bothering you.
>>
>>14363497
I mostly do it because, in my head, they're used in the RX-78 3.0 while the 2.0 has the old thumb-1-3 fingered hand design. Idk, just a thing I say, like how I call Unicorn destroy Marbled Meat Man, and the 00R the 00Russer. Just things my girlfriend and I call them that stuck with me.

What are the two hands you posted there? I assume the one on the right are the DM ones, but I've not seen the others. I really like fully articulated hands, so changing up some of my other MG's with them would be cool practice for the FA-78, if and when I do get it. Who am I kidding, it's a Gundam, worse comes to worse I'll make my little sister make it for me. She loves the RX-78.

>>
>>14363910
Glosscoat creates a smoother coating, which helps avoid silvering, and helps washes to flow better. You can try to apply waterslides on bare semigloss plastic, but it'll probably take more work to not make it look like a sticker.

Very little inner frame differences with the Gundam 2.0 it's derived from. Holds together real good. Face visor is a little less tinted than I'd like, but nothing some clear green can't fix.

Strong but not super slick. If you really want to prevent scratches you'll have to make it almost frictionless. Plastics, due to inherent wax, have some degree of slipperiness (some more than others, like PTFE) but not so much for paints.

I'm not sure if stuff like grease will harm the paint or plastic but it's worth looking into some sort of lube for scratch prone areas.

How much did they screw you over on mark up?

$11, but membership gave me a 10% discount, and I don't mind giving them a few extra bucks, since I like the store
>>
>>14366321
>11 dollars
That's actually a discount. He's 1800 yen MSRP which is about 17 bucks because the yen is becoming stronger for whatever reason. You don't need markers other than the panel line, which is GM01, not GM301. GM301 is pour type and you're gonna have a real bad time trying to panel line with that. I've made that mistake before.

I want Amazing Exia, but I've built too many both GBF and 00 stuff and really need a break before more.

Perspective. The actual RG kits, Zeta's about a head and some change taller than 78-2.

So this RG 00 Raiser was my first ever build and i'm quite happy with how it turned out

I'm going to put the decals on soon but i'm wary about it as I don't want to ruin them, does anyone know if the ones for this kit dry transfer or just regular stickers?
>>
>>14368432
You should polish those nubs and knicks. Not a ton visible, so kudos, but there are some. Left GN binder and raiser wing. GN blade hilt. Better than snapfag/10.
Good on ya for effort. It could just be the pic, but panel lining will help you out a lot.

>>
>>14368456

Thanks, i'm gonna be trying my best to polish it up over the next few days, only finished a couple f hours ago, just leaving it at the moment since I nicked myself a bit too many times with the knife

About the panel lining, I was thinking of putting a topcoat finish on it, would it be best to leave it to after that or is alright to do as soon as?
>>
>>14368489
Do it before you finish it. The topcoat will keep it from rubbing, unless you intended to put two coats. Which you might, depending on how you decide to go about putting the decals on.

I'd put the panel lining down first as it will be easier to draw on the plastic than the coat, imo. Some people like to put a thin coat down for to help with the decals, but you may not want to. I'd still panel line first because you might have sections where the decals go over lines and it could end up with some unglamorous breaks.
>>
>>14366251
Not to be the biggest asshole in the world, if this is your first time airbrushing than it just means you have a lot to learn, but this might seriously be the ugliest gunpla I've seen in a long time.

I don't know if it's the weathering, if it's the color scheme or if it's the thickness of the paint, but my eyes have cancer now.

The paint looks way too thick, but it might also be your over the top weathering giving it that effect. The thing is that the colors don't come out nicely and it looks all muddled up.

>>14368526
The paint itself looks fine, I think the issue the metallic weathering he did. It's just random and makes it look mostly of poor quality. The picture quality itself isn't good either. It's like he used the flash on his camera phone as well. So tons of factors working against it really.

Plus I'm not a fan of the color scheme in general. Where colors are placed and how different they are, like the split between the Green and Black in the shoulder. But that's more of my personal opinion.

>>
>>14368432
>>14368489
I'm assuming you're just using the "decals" you got with the kit, which are stickers. If that's the case, I suggest doing top coat at the very end.

If you did get actual decals, do a gloss coat first, or at least, I suggest spraying a top coat as soon as possible after you apply the decals, that way you don't accidentally rub off any decals while posing. Also panel line before you do anything else, just in case you accidentally rub off any of the decals/stickers/what have you.

Also, remember to remove all nubs before you topcoat. Don't want to sand off any of the topcoat, or chip any away with an x-acto, however you end up doing it.

>>
For anyone that has a Nu ver Ka. can you tell me the measurement from the bottom of the display base to the top fin funnel as high as it can go?
>>
>>14369060
I mean something that costs more than a few dollars. I was at the register and he asked if I needed anything else so I said fuck it and grabbed a Gyan Revive, which also ruined my money plans but I did it anyway because the impulse was damn strong. In that context, no, I haven't had an impulse buy before.
>>
>>14369075
What's the physical store like? I've only bought online from them, but I hear they give discounts on kits with beat up boxes and such that they can't sell online.
>>
>>14368526
>>14368604
As mentioned my photos don't really help. The paints were all thinned and came on fairly well. The reason I think they look thick is because I tried doing some washes and they came up average. Going to try add the weathering very sparingly on the next kit, getting the scale right is hard.

Cheers for the feedback.

The Nu Ver Ka gave me a good few days of enjoyment, with all the decals and what not. I haven't started the Sazabi Ver Ka yet, but it's a Massive MG kit, judging by the runners alone. Don't torture yourself playing the first game, it's not worth it. Also, expect what you get with Kotobukiya. They don't look as good as Bandai kits OOB. This means less paint applications, seam lines, and poor articulation. So be prepared to do work

What are the ones you like? I can tell you from experience that the best ones are Mk II, 00Russer, and the Zakus (ableit, cutting out and de-nubbing the hose cylinders were a pain). They're all pretty solid. The Exia's alright, and the RX-78 is a bit fragile. I hear the Z'Gok is also really solid. The Freedom, Destiny and Strike Freedom are pretty fragile grenades though. I think it's mostly the bits/backpack stuff that makes it that way.
>>

I don't know about the other two but Destiny is solid as hell, and the back is a little heavy but that's just because of the fuckhuge pack.

Exia is a solid kit, if it pleases you the FPM Exia R3 conversion is a pretty good add-on and circumvents the energy ribbons on its shoulders which was easily the most frustrating part

>cutting out and de-nubbing the hose cylinders were a pain

MK.II is an amazing kit. Would definitely recommend
>>
>>14372596
It is pretty solid, but the connection between the backpack and the wings always seems to open up on me for some reason. That and the sword and cannon seem to slide out of place a lot. Also the toes on the comically large feet like to slip off. It is pretty solid, with just a few nit-picky things falling off.

>>14372610
All very solid kits. The MK II especially. He was my first, and by far my favorite, 10/10 would buy and build again! I actually just finished panel lining and putting the stickers on the Exia yesterday.

>>14372629
I guess just paint on the sprue, then just pop them out. They don't need to be clipped, just pushed out, and then you can sand and paint the unpainted part?
>>
>>14372664
I have never had that problem with the toes so something might have gone wrong there, but I will concede that the way they designed the slot-in for the sword and rifle is completely stupid.

It is a brick but it's a damn good looking brick that really stands out due to it's size. My friends call it "Dick-arm gundam". It's the only kit with sub arms that I own

Finally got around to starting a project that I might enter for the group build, depending on if I can figure out how to do everything and somehow find a space to paint.

I'm pretty excited, this is my first time really doing something outside of just seam wielding and panel lining aside from that one GM Cannon I kind of gave up on for now a little after starting.

I haven't completely decided yet on what to do about the shoulders. I really like how the old Perfect Gundam shoulders look on it, but it leaves the shoulders and upper arm with no articulation at all, but I don't know any other feddie suits with big, blocky shoulders like that.

Idunno, just felt like sharing.

It's very pretty anon.

Got a quick question about the Freedom 2.0 if any of you guys have it. Is it possible to just slap on the Aile Striker pack from the Strike RM MG? Or for that matter any of the other seed backpacks? Don't think I've seen this attempted yet

is there any chance the Hecate from Rec-G is going to get a HG?

Green Mountain guy here, the initial problem with that gouf was me overpainting it. It actually looked quite nice handpainted before I got carried away and started worrying about inperfections. I lost my patience, and it showed.
The black on this is handpainted, although it's pretty easy to handpaint it's obviously a much better job.

Strike Freedom is my only RG, I just didn't like that they used some shit tier gold plastic for most of it, also it requires a stand to have the wings opened which is probably why you'd want the kit in the first place

I hope to god I wasn't too slow on HLJ. I need that Dynames and Kyrios.

I came back from a trip in LA and found Kyrios for $29. I never knew of a shortage until the clerk told me about it.

I'll work on them eventually. Probably more to come when anime expo arrives.

Preorders still open on Amiami though

>>14373313
Not really a shortage though, just the time between prints. As long as you wanted it though you're fine.
The reprinting is next month so if you were gonna place a bigger order it's a bit of a waste.

Anyone know if the HG Barbatos kit comes with parts for more than one form? I noticed that there's like 5 of them in the show but I don't know which I prefer
>>
>>14373338
>Preorders still open on Amiami though
Yeah but I already have about 5 kits plus action bases in my private warehouse. I suppose it is a good sign if amiami still has pre-orders up though.

If you want the Graze shoulders, the Schwalbe wire claw and side skirt boosters, or just the cannon you need to buy the respective Graze and weapon kits for them.
>>

The HG Barbatos comes with the parts to make the 4th form, and the 1st form. The second requires the HG Graze or HG Graze Ritter's shoulders, and the 3rd requires the HG Schwalbe Graze grabby Claw as well s the aforementioned Graze shoulders.

The HG Barbatos 6th Form comes with al the parts to make the 6th form, the 5th form ground, and the chest armor and original Barbatos feet for the 5th form space, but require the Schwalbe Graze leg boosters as well as a small accessory that comes with the HG Barbatos + Kutan-III set.

Also, worth note, the only way to get the sword with the white hilt is with the Kutan-III kit. Although the P-Bandai Barbatos full set kit comes with all the accesories and 2 HG Barbatos frames, one for the original HG and one for the 6th form.

I like the idea of actually having to salvage parts from other mobile suits but man does that seem tricky. Thanks for the info guys.
