The meetup is different depending on what route you took, the space route has you playing as the space crew defending the Shirogane from enemies who won't fuck off and the Shirogane not understanding the concept of a strategic withdrawal until both the earth route reinforcements and enemy reinforcements arrive but the earth route has you also playing as the space route crew and defending a base that nets you a game over if an enemy ends their turn on a base square, with the gigan not able to move until the first phase is over and the Shirogane sitting on its fat ass the entire stage

Ok, /srwg/, it's time for a SRW Plot Making Exercise! Hopefully, at the end of this exercise, you will become better at making plots. The rules are simple: You must pick any two or three series that have plot points in common, and tie them together using those plot points. But you can't use ties that SRW has already used (boy I bet you spent olenty of time coming up with Nadesico and Gundam AGE as being together, or Linebarrels and Demonbane, or Code Geass and Gundam 00.) because this is partly about creativity.

I'll start.

>Linebarrels of Iron (Manga) and Brave of Gold Goldran

Both plots are about two groups of people searching for ancient robots of great power - one on the protagonist side, and one on the antagonist side. The protagonist side mostly focuses on big, flashy special robots, while the antagonists have a shitload of MP mechs and ace customs and stuff. Both villain groups would likely fight each other, but I don't doubt the organization of JUDA would be more than glad to help the Goldran guys search for the Braves, thus bringing them together (probably in the first episode plot of Goldran, when the kids first summon Dran and there's a big fight in Japan.)

Both are about overthrowing a corrupt government through brute force. I could see the Yugoku being a third party between the Black Knights and Britannia simply because they're strong enough to do their own thing and get away with it. A good portion of the plot would likely be convincing them to side with the Black Knights to prevent potential casualties and collateral. I don't know enough about the characters to know how they might interact with one another but I feel like it could work. And then have the aliens they prepared for show up later being connected to something deep space related like Gunbuster, or Baldios, or Govarion or something similar.

Both settings have undergone an industrial revolution where all energy sources is standardized leading to it biting them in the ass when a MacGuffin that both sides are fighting for causes a global power shortage.

The heroes are members of a Civil Defense Group that you could say act on a International basis, and the villains are a group of Chuuni dorks with names like "Walter the Dire Wolf", including a girl whose father figure is a Giant Robot and they're all working under a Grandmaster that no one apparently has ever seen for a long time already despite strongly believing in his ideals and holy shit this just writes itself.

King Gainer and Fafner Exodus

The Exodus from Siberia joins up with the Exodus of Srinagar. The King Gainer characters are disheartened when they learn that they Nippon they've been searching for has been wiped from the map and just how deadly the world is because of Festum but their collaboration and technology helps more Srinagar people survive and not give into despair because of how positive they are.

Gain becomes Maya Sniper Oni-san and helps her deal with her increasing spiral into despair.

Gainer and Akira becomes friends with them bonding over their weird romantic shenanigans.

Meeya and Hirato do a concert together that we cut away from before getting to see.

Adette tries to fuck the Mizoguchi.

Ana joins the loli brigade with Miwa and Emery and their is much rejoicing as each of them is cute while holding one of her ferret things.

Asuham gets in the way of Dustin and his team trying to murder everyone because nobody is allowed to fucking touch Gain but him.

The Overdevil and Crawler have a Freeze Off, while Brunhilda inherently dislikes Festum because they're hogging in on it's super schtick aggressive against them so a few maps will just have Brunhilda show up as NPC who beelines for Festum.

Roadrunner tries to fry everything with it's Nuke +5 Fire but is stopped by King Gainer's Overfreeze.

In the final battle they use that one Overman's overcoat trick like they do for Gainer to try and break Gregory's control over Jonathan.

I wish the game could acknowledge the way you manage your squad in the cutscenes. Like, in that particular case, Katina shouldn't ask for the R-Gun if you already have her in it. Rather, if you gave it to her right away, or another strong unit, she could comment on it. Same for other characters. Your top ace, whoever it is, could get praised by the other characters and maybe promoted or something, and acknowledged as the top threat by the antagonists. A character you never deploy could complain about not seeing enough action. Stuff like that.
I guess it would be difficult to implement, but it would be pretty awesome.

This is my general mindset in SRW too. Animations on until I see all the attacks I'm curious about, then keep them off until a major fight happens. Give or take exceptions for certain units. Gotta have that Trombe.

I'll admit the animations are what drew me to the series but they're so drawn out I can only have so much of them in a single gameplay session. In the end I'll be playing for the strategy gameplay elements and story more than anything.

I actually don't like Arios guy's Z3 material. None of the hits feel like they're actually connecting and everything is super-loose and fidgety to the point where it looks like it's not on the same plane of existence as the rest of the game.
I also really didn't like the choreography for a lot of moves, like Zeta's Waverider Crash which skips the actual crash and Turn A's Moonlight Butterfly not even having the Turn A actually taking off on-screen and being over in like ten seconds after it starts.

It was probably less work I imagine since those subtle movements that make some attacks look great also take a lot of extra in betweens and lets make no mistake, it's obvious Bamco give no budget to the handheld teams.

If you actually check the credits you might even notice a animator who worked on L dissappeared for UX than suddenly popped up again in BX and there was talk of the Z/2ndOGs teams pinching experienced animators from other teams because they were so far behind.

There is also the fact a lot of people have mentioned this but it's pretty obvious there is some slight 3D modeling used in the AGE-3/FX, Knight Gundam's animations for those panning shots. I think this is actually a new technique since the panning shots in 2ndOGs are actually just very elaborately drawn scenes in contrast.

Sure.
These basic principles of animation are a set of fundamental properties of an animation that help them convey what it is they have to convey, i.e. a baseball player swinging a bat, a man throwing a punch, and cartoon character getting hit, and so-on.

So, to set an example, we will use the concept of a character throwing a punch.

When that person throws a punch, they would first do something of a preparatory action, such as a wind-up or pulling back their arm. This is called Anticipation. Another example would be a character squatting or bending their knees before they would jump.

Now, before after he has thrown that punch, let's assume he has missed. Obviously, all of that force has to go somewhere, so let's assume that he sorta loses his footing a bit from this missed punch. This is called Follow-Through. The idea behind Follow-Through would be a secondary action that occurs as a side-effect of the intended action. If someone were to be animating recoil for a gun, this too would be a follow-through.

Gurren Lagann, Gunbuster, and Diebuster all share an animator and he has a distinct style.

He'll essentially animate from extreme to extreme, without any action in between to connect the two.

Now, he does put a slight motion onto the limbs and such in these extremes, so that the change in extreme is a bit more nuanced.
