Gakuen only exists because they could take the animations of every unit but one from three past games and shove it together with the mechanics of something from one of their other games that sold like shit. And it still barely worked because J's animations stick out like a sore thumb, which is why the most units any J series has is two and that's because that one required a comboattack for the units to be any better than shit. And they still had to drop licenses for Tekkaman Blade, and they didn't bring Mazinger Z in despite the unit looking FAR BETTER than Mazinkaiser's version. (that's also why you see things like fucking Dobeks in from K while W has very few mooks, and then of course J doesn't even have Final Dancouga and Great Zeorymer and Master Gundam amongst other things)

If it got into a modern SRW, it would just take the animations from the UX and BX series, and only those. And I don't have to point out how weird it would look.

Compare an average J unit to an average K unit side by side. You'll see barely any DKs (unless it's God Gundam, the only other unit in Gakuen from J with a DK is IIRC Dancouga), very little actual sprite movement, no walking animations at all... most of the good looking J units were taken from W.

Hey guys, this is my first time in a SRWG so hopefully this hasn't been asked a million times. I'm just wondering if I can expect a lot of the characters from OG2 to be in Moon Dwellers? I love the series, but I had to stop playing the earlier games because of the language barrier. First off, welcome to the general, ignore the shitposting, that's common. Secondly, do know that there's a lot between OG2 and MD that we missed. I'd recommend looking through a few synopsis' a bit just to get an idea, espeically since the redone version of the OG games is now the canon one. Makes things hard to follow sometimes. 90% of the stuff you'd already know from OG2 will probably be returning but there will more than likely be a few faces you don't recognize from the stuff we didn't get so you might want to take that into account.

The Huckies got tossed out for the Exbein series, the Grungust type-2 might still be AWOL like it was in 2nd OG and the Type-1 has been upgraded into something useful, the Gespensts all have upgrades, the Wildraubtier is also back and beefed up, and the Laz Angriff and Randgrith or w/e those two are called have flight packs and extra guns bolted on.

It wasn't AWOL, it got eaten by Ryuohki to make Ryujinki, like it was in Alpha 2. That means there's only two Type 2s left, one of which we don't know the location of and the other of which was in Dark Prison.


Oh, adding to that list - two of the Type 3s were destroyed in OG2, but the third one was taken out of storage at some point and is still in use. This one uses a Shishioh Blade as its finisher, as obviously Dygenguar still uses the Sanshiki Zankantou from his Type 3. On the note of Dygenguar - at some point, its original weapon set was unlocked, and in the last game they got combined with his original moveset (aside from the Guardian Blade, but eh, that one's not exactly a major loss, it was more notable for looking silly than anything.)

Other new things of note that old characters have - the R1 has a second mech that's like it, the ART-1, which is itself a prototype of a mech known as the AR-1 which isn't in SRW yet but might show up in the future (if it does, prepare to see an AR-2 and an AR-3, and their combining form that makes the SRX look weak). They have a comboattack.

As mentioned, the old Type 1 Grungust has a new form, the Grungust Kai, which was a thing in a past game but now looks totally different (it's the Grungust with a jetpack and another cooler finisher.) The original Grungust Kai was opposed by something known as the Huckebein EX, and now that the Huckebeins are gone - a long story, basically Sunrise was going to pull Gundam from SRW if they used Huckebeins in advertising - the "Exbeins" are coming in. The first of these, the Exbein Ashe, upgraded to the Exexbein, so expect that to show up pretty quickly, but Rio and Ryoto are getting their own ones now.

Also in this timeline Ryoto turned a normal Lion into a crazy flying thing known as the Armorlion, the name is indicative of what it actually is like. On the subject of new Lions, I forget if the Siegerlion was in OG2, but if it wasn't, it's a new mech for Leona.

The Gespensts! Almost forgot those. A lot of upgrades to those, since Gespensts are now rather rare and mostly piloted by aces from OG1's war. They now have a pack system that allows for a couple different forms, and there's a modified one known as the Gestorbein that might show up? But the most notable two things are that the Gespenst Kick is conspicuously absent (and the Punch is still MIA in OG), and that Gilliam has a new personal Gespenst called the RV.


Oh, and Angelg, Vysaga, and Ashsaber are all automatic now.

OG1 and OG2 were given a PS2 remake, Original Generations, that replaced them as the canon version of the story. It's mostly the same, but there's a few adjustments: most notably, Axel is much less of a jerk, and Raul from SRW R joined the party early on in OG2. Original Generations is typically referred to as OGs.

OGs was followed by OG Gaiden, a relatively short game that jumps around between a lot of different stories. The first half is based heavily on the OVA that you can probably find floating around subbed, while the second deals chiefly with the Shura, a race of martial artists, and Dark Brain, a recurring adversary throughout the franchise. One of Dark Brain's servants, Despinis, joined your team by the end of the story, along with Raul's sister Fiona. The three dismantled their super robots in favor of building the support machine Excellence Rescue. Mai also received the ART-1, an advanced prototype based off the R-1 that can't form part of the SRX. OGG also established that Axel and Alfimi are still alive, having undergone a sort of bonding that leaves their lives tied to one another.

After OGG came 2nd Original Generations, also known as 2ndOG. This game featured the casts of SRW D and MX prominently, dealing with a Lovecraftian monstrosity trying to emerge into the world and a constantly evolving AI, as well as the story of Alpha 2, dealing with the well-intentioned extremist group Baral, who wanted to put the Earth in a bubble and put everyone through a process that would either turn them immortal or kill them. On top of this, the heroes had to deal with the invasion of the Guests, the aliens that the Inspectors were an advance force for. Behind all this were the machinations of long-time villain Euzeth Gozzo, a Balmarian who posed as a human and manipulated all the events up until now as part of his master plan to break free of his destiny to be defeated by you. This obviously didn't work.

Well...for most of @3, the Banpreios is weaker than the SRX. It's finisher is Altered Full Burst, it loses a massive number of attacks, etc. Even when it gains its real finisher, it's not /super/ powerful. Banpreios' strength is really in being more reliable than the SRX: engine can overdrive, Rai and Aya can take some time off to fire attacks instead of devoting all their time to making sure it doesn't fall apart, it can jet around like nobody's business.... Even in the story the Banpreios is less an attempt to make the SRX even more powerful and more an attempt to make the SRX more reliable.

That said, the Banpreios was explicitly incomplete in @3, so who knows how it will go in OG, since there's no way they're not giving us full XN Dimension Slash shenanigans.

The first half is based heavily on the OVA that you can probably find floating around subbed, while the second deals chiefly with the Shura, a race of martial artists, and Dark Brain, a recurring adversary throughout the franchise. One of Dark Brain's servants, Despinis, joined your team by the end of the story, along with Raul's sister Fiona. The three dismantled their super robots in favor of building the support machine Excellence Rescue. Mai also received the ART-1, an advanced prototype based off the R-1 that can't form part of the SRX. OGG also established that Axel and Alfimi are still alive, having undergone a sort of bonding that leaves their lives tied to one another.

Opposing Dark Brain is his usual enemy, Fighter Roar, and the robot known as Compatible Kaiser (which is now G Compatible Kaiser thanks to combining with the G-Thundergate). Also some Shura joined you, but then they all left at the end of the game, and there was some setup for MX stuff.

I don't know if we'll get XN Dimension Slash, but do consider: Banpreios's best solo move was it's version of the Muteki Giri... we still haven't seen its version of the Nendou Bakusaiken.

And it's weaker than the SRX because it can't fire THE GUN and is missing a pilot, by the endgame even in its incomplete state the thing was a massive destroyer machine.
