I was gonna ask which route you guys think I should take (in about 5 stages I get to go Earth or Space route)

Earth Route would net me
- Eva and G Gundam plot events (East burns red for the last time, etc)
- Mazinkaiser/Shin Getter demo movies
- Chance to get S2 engine for Shinji
- Chance to get Allenby and Master Asia
- Eva ending route if I so choose.
Now some of that is neat, but Nobel Gundam is really all I could make use of, aside from making earlier use of Mazinkaiser.

Space on the other hand gives me :
- Ideon and Gunbuster plot shenanigans
- Full Armor Hyaku Shiki Kai
- Char's Zaku
- Jung Freud
- Rosamia
Now for an all girls run this is better for me as I net more women than the Earth route.

In Final? No idea, but Kaiser is better.

In Alpha 1? Kaiser is slightly stronger, and has more range (up to 6, Powered still only has 5) as well as a better theme, but Powered has much, MUCH cheaper attacks - Fire Blaster is 50 and the MAP is 100, but Breast Fire is 20 and the MAP is 30 - and also has more range on the attacks that matter (like 1-3 on Breast Fire). It also gets Daisharin Rocket Punch, a free, 1-5 P Move that's close to Breast Fire and Fire Blaster in final power. So Powered is technically better, but it's the secret unit of the two so that's expected.

In Alpha Gaiden? You get both anyway. Mazinkaiser is by far the better unit, but Powered Mazinger isn't outright horrible since it still has Mazinpower and is available for upgrades from the start, so you can make use of that.

In the later Alphas, it's basically the same as Alpha Gaiden. Alpha 2 added the mostly useless Final Dynamic Special (thanks, I'm sure GETTER G is the mech I'll be taking to the end, not Shin Getter), while Alpha 3 added some combos with Great Mazinger, so that's cool.

I really like Unbreakable Fulcrum, at least the B one.
The animation's nothing special but the beam does look powerful which is really neat because most of the time when a real's attack is BIG BEAM it just looks like that, a beam that's bigger than whatever comes out of their beam rifle and that's lame.

So far everyone's been pretty solid except Xabungle, Dominator and Ennil in the Leopard, they've been lacking, Canaria, who's basically permabenched, and Sara who just now's been leeching off LV99 units to become a Hopebot.

Saisei is just NOT the game you'd do a challenge run for that's not no upgrades, and even then, it's kinda iffy.

I use the Airmaster over the other chumps every run, wanted a change of pace, and I already dumped some upgrades on it, so I can't back down.
Leopard is not what you'd call BAD, but its weapon set is a god damn mess, and really ammo crippled, it tries too hard to compete with Heavyarms and is completely outclassed by it, in every area, even the pilots available for it are better.

Just look at this piece of shit., if I manage to get a hold of enough cash to fully upgrade all my units (which is around 22~23), I'll just dump it for Airmaster.

This is a good stopping point.
Looking at the flow chart, the following 10 skill points are easily doable so I should get the Platinum Emblem on stage 58, meaning I get to play around with it for a whopping 2 stages.

I think I had around 16M cash saved up throughout the run so I might get the Gold Emblem around the same time too.

AFAIK no one likes him in 64, it's hard to build up morale when your majority of attacks is Range 1.

My gut feeling tells me he's stronger in SRC like most of the "Range 1 family" - enemy AI in that game isn't obsessed with firing on people who can't fight back so while they can't counter and kill everything on enemy phrase, they're useful for picking off specific targets.

I haven't played 64 with either of the male protags, but from what I gather, in that guy's case you have to choose between getting your upgrade or recruiting your rival. You can't have both because your rival dies when you get your upgrade.
If you choose to recruit your rival, you get the combination attack with him which is possibly the strongest attack in the game? I don't really know. In order to get him you need to have over 100 kills with the protag until a certain stage in the mid-game, which is probably really difficult to do due to the aforementioned range issues that he has.

Standing up to the game's challenge.

Besides, the game almost literally handpicks enemy batches for you to properly level up as long as you follow the story, and if you don't there's quite a few exploitable spots here and there, like the Island cave.

But again, FFII has a very careful selection of exploitable enemies along the road to every quest destination to the point that it's actually easier and faster to just follow the flow of the game instead of grinding for hours until you meet a wall and then grind some more. Besides, it's not like there are many hard bosses in the game and the PSP version is so laughably, pathetically nerfed in favour of the player there's no challenge whatsoever to begin with, which is kinda bad because it very different from the original game.
It's like grinding in the Biolab in SaGa Frontier, you just lose half of the game's fun.
