***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, dont make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

Anyone know if full resin kits have any range of motion? I'm looking to get the 1/100 Nero but I really don't want to spend all the time painting it if it'll just be a brick, for some reason it seems to be very niche market and there really aren't very many resin kit reviews.

Do you guys prefer the anime or manga versions of the HG Thunderbolt kits? It doesn't seem like there are differences regarding contents, just slightly different color palettes. Is one version more canon than the other?

This pretty much. The primary yellow make sense on something like the RX-78-2, since it's painted in testing colors, but for Wing Gundam or Shinanju, decrative gold trim makes more sense.

eh, I just find gold kinda silly because I think it fits magical-looking mecha better, or when it's used on ornamental parts like Unicorn's Sleeves MSs. Wing Gundam does remind me of the mecha in Rayearth so I think gold looks nice on it.

Made of explodium on a scale that puts the RG Zeta to shame. It's near impossible to get all the parts to line up in fighter mode, and the limbs are floppy and useless in the other two modes. They look like ass without using the included stickers or waterslides, but the Super kits have so many complex surfaces that applying them is a fucking nightmare and near impossible to get smooth. I was on a Frontier high when they came out and wanted to get all of them when they came out, but buying one (VF-25G with the Super Parts add-on, if it matters) cured me of that very fast.

Well as there's not really a bst for just gunpla I guess I'll ask here. Anyone got the left over graze parts from Eins graze? I need to replace a leg hinge for a standard graze.

Also HGUC zaku 1 dome shoulder type if anyone has one to spare. Was gonna get yonem Kirk's zaku sniper as it has the normal dome and the modded one but everyone's out. Standard, black tri stars or sniper dome are all fine. Wanna make a custom zaku 2 with it.
>>
>>14227046
those look like parts from the regular graze runner, i'm guessing since the graze ein is bigger it doesn't need to use most of the standard joints.

if you need a replacement you could probably order the standard graze and for your zaku 1 shoulder you couldn't just order the regular hg?

For me EMS is usually at least double the value of the actual merchandise, which is annoying, not to mention customs/import taxes and a base 17.50 euro fee for EMS delivery.

SAL is much less hassle, and I'm never in a real hurry to build my stuff. Saving a penny on shipping every now and then is always nice
>>
>>14227186
It's available on hobbywave for ~60 + shipping last I checked.
>>
>>14227100
Most of my current order is with hlj, just waiting on denim zaku to ship. However they do not have Eins instock and to be honest I just need the parts. Instead of throwing them out or recycling seeing if anyone doesn't want their spares.

As for zaku I've already purchased a HGUC zaku 2 for the base of the project, two standard zakus for thier shoulders and guns, standard zaku sniper for its shoulder and torso. Those three are all being used in projects but now just need a shoulder dome as I'll be using the origin mold for any future zaku projects. But the way it's dome works and it's style won't work either.

It's why I wish we had our own bst either embedded here or as a separate yet linked thread. I know I'm not only one who kit bashes, or has tons of spare weapons, parts, shields, beams, axes etc laying around. It be nice to have a official hub like /toy/ just for gunpla. Save each other money and make projects easier. Trade parts, kits or weapons. I just lack technical know-how to start it and feel unless it's more official or embedded with the thread no one will use it. Have a list or people who are banned from doing it, away to sticky what you have, need or will trade for.

Otaku Mode is having a larger newbie promotion than usual; registering for them gets you $10 in points and a $5 coupon, so you can use both to take $15 off an order. Free shipping for the first order on any grand total of $30 or above. If I were you, I'd recommend getting the 1/100 Kimaris, I just snatched it for $17 shipped.

https://otaku[remove this]mode.com/invite/7dd359

And yes, this is my link- if you don't use it you don't get the $10 in points.
>>
>>14228462

>>

>>
>>14228974
Box size varies betweem kits. Play around with grouping them into smaller SAL shipments of two/three kits a box and try to find the cheapest combo. They should arrive one after another on consecutive days.

How much does SAL normally cost? The whole appeal of ordering large amount of kits at once was to make the shipping price "worth it".

Humidity is important. But under 70 its fine. If you're worried just test it out on a piece.
Also if you live in an area that often gets in the 70 - 80 range you can buy a moister trap.
>>
>>14229369

Paint a piece, check in in an hour or so, and that's your reference for if its OK to paint in that climate. I assume the temperatures don't change that much in Florida.

I live in Japan now, in the summer the humidity gets to 100%, if it gets down to 70% I'll top coat outside. But that's from a can, I assume an airbrush isn't that much different.

Just finished building origin chars zaku and love a majority of it but dear god it feels like its missing pieces. Whats with the two tiny slots under the back pack? And the rear upper hard point feels like its missing a peg in part to fill out the back skirt like the older zakus models, just not on a hinge. Also am I the only one who thinks the model goofed on the spike dome part? It seems so much smaller then animation and line art. Or maybe just more distant, not sure? still nice touch to add parts to make a standard zaku 2 if your willing to paint, just surprised they are waiting so long to produce it. From what Ive heard they either may hold off for pbandai which is less likely, or towards the later ovas when we see standard zaku 2s fielded. Possibly with the appearance of the gundam if anything of the ova ending with the gundam rising encounter being true.

Still theories and rumors aside I always wondered. Did ball units appear at all in origin manga,or were they all replaced with the gm and guncannons? Does Garma finally get to use his zaku 2 at all or is it still skirted off to the side for dopp fighter and gaw? Kinda want to see zabi zakus/dom animated for once even if just in a hanger.

Leena Toros likes her dakka. She had plenty of it in her Dibison but she's the kind of shitty pilot who blames her machine and not her lack of skills. So she upgrades to the much speedier Gun Sniper... then loads it down with a fuckton of guns, which defeats the purpose of a small, quick moving sniper-type Zoid.

Bit and Brad fucking carried that team.

Some intern at CN got to draw on the wall in a stairwell that several major animators and artists have drawn on in the past. Getting to do so is a huge honor; just find a blank space and draw.

So they draw.... on a drawing of Spike Spiegel, done by the original character designer themselves. When they found out, they gave zero fucks, and I don't quite remember or not, but they did it again on another Spike drawing by the same guy. Pretty sure the smug face with the hand is the second one.

First one was a mistake that they gave no fucks about, but second one is considered to be deliberate and assholish.

There aren't that many 1/100s to match up with the Efreet Schneid. Only Torrington Nemo, green Marasai, UC Zaku Cannon, all of which are P-bandai.

Delta Plus and Jesta are borderline.

The only guys that the Efreet Schneid could fight in the PS3 game were GM IIIs and Jegan Ds.

RE 1/100 may be a sanctuary for obscure designs mould wise, but all obscure variants of RE, MGs and HGs come in the form of p-bandai releases.
>>
>>14229880
Basically, yeah. That's a Gun Sniper's role; snipe, then relocate if found as quickly as possible. They're also as small as they are to make themselves a more difficult target to hit.

But Leena just piles on MORE GUNS AND MISSILES like a scrub, and takes away every advantage the Gun Sniper has naturally. She can't snipe with that configuration, all that weaponry slows her down, AND it makes her a much bigger target.

Her strategy is LITERALLY "Spray and Pray"; she just unloads everything she has in an attempt to unleash hell on whatever happens to be within firing range, even if that includes HER OWN FUCKING TEAMMATES.

So if we ever get efreet HGUC do you think custom, schnied, or nacht will be pbandai? Which would be normal release?

It be nice if schnied was standard to go with unicorn TV series but as semi striker was pbandai I doubt it. With all three blue Destiny units custom seems like the goto if they do. Nacht and standard one year war schnied might be pbandai too. Sadly with re being a large scale with more part separation they may skip HGUC...

What do you consider a fem mech?
I've been building a lot of feminine mechs as of late and im hooked and need recommendations.so in your opinion what makes a kit feminine and what is a good example?
I.e wide hips like the g-lucifer
the guy that REALLY likes the o need not apply i've built it and i understand your ways now.

>>14229365
I'd be interested in parting with my 1/100 figures, I don't want money but I would like a few of them painted and sent back. Like Liquid for the Koto REX and 1/72 rebel pilots so it doesn't look like ass with the cockpit open.

>>
>>14230678
it really depends but I think I settle on cute or dainty features which says a lot about me
So I have GN Archer and G-Arcane for that, but after that.. it falls into somewhat stranger places.
The Braves are both women, along with Gadessa and Garozzo.
Adele and Age-Sparrow are women too.
Victory and Vdash are women, but V2 is male.

I think what it boils down to are the proportions and rounding vs edges on them. I like to think of the big blocky ones as guys but smaller or more slender mecha are women.

I REALLY want there to be an HGUC Efreet, especially so I can finally complete my damn EXAM suits collection
But I feel like they won't do it now, since they made the RE:100. I know that logic doesn't make much sense but I feel like they just won't bother with a 1/144 now.

It's nice to see it made, but seeing it be made in 1/100 when I only buy 1/144 (it's just my personal preference) is like meeting the girl of my dreams and then finding out she's actually a dude with a huge cock

I really want it, but at the same time I don't. Then I begin questioning my whole life and shouting to god about how cruel he is for such a horrible trick.
>>
>>14231170
If by girl of your dreams as in not just a cock rocket and is in actual taste then I'd stow my previous bias and take the trap

Its basically a 1/100 no grade, so a big high grade/old master grade.

Its the articulation you'll need to worry about, not the build, from what I've seen it doesn't have much of a dynamic range, could be wrong since I lack one (currently)

>>14231264
...they did, its from zz, I'm banking on the bawoo but depending on the angle it could possibly be the gazu twins, but with both shoulders on to throw people off

What's the difference between GM Striker and Semi Striker?

gm striker is a unit designed for cqc battles, semi striker takes a gm 2 and grafts the shoulder armor (from the striker) on with a new shield.

Similar purpose but in construction one was just retrofit

Also wtf was he talking about taking your hat off? Is he from some rich family that was trained in manners and it means a lot to him? At first I thought he thought it was another gundam hiding it's face with a mask/hat...but nope.

I've been working on the MG Hyaku Shiki with Ballute System for a month and I've been doing an extra finish paint job (candy gold).

So I go to put on the dry transfers and it takes the bloody paint off!

Now I have to strip the part down and start over (the blobs of missing paint show no matter how much I sand). I threw the parts into Alcohol to start their magic and the paint is now like gummy dead masking tape (but even more sticky). Maybe it's all the layers of paint but this has never happened before. What can I do to save them?

What Snapshit does is the equivalent of assembling IKEA furniture with half the parts covered in cardboard.

Is that so wrong? Just because someone doesn't put as much effort as you doesn't mean that they are worth any less...

If you buy a kit for $20, and Sir Snap buys a kit for $20 and you both build it. Both are still worth $20....

In fact, there are more plastic on Sir Snap's build, thus it retains more monetary value in bulk of plastic.

Any advice on where to start if someone wants to watch the zoids series? I only remember it from when I was a wee child. I had lots of those model kits that you could buy at target/kmart though, I combined the liger with the pteradactyl or whatever it was and the scorpion to make a thing. Whatever they're called. Fun little kits though.
>>
>>14232796
Mine does. GBF got me into the series and since then I've watched everything short of seed and age.
Though I haven't completed Victory and Turn A has been....really fucking boring even 30 episodes into it. Like, holy hell, people praise the pacing in Turn A but knock on ibo not having a fight for four episodes, jesus. Anyways, the wiki page mentioned it's mobility is pretty shitty so I wanted to imagine up a way that would best fix that, so I'm adding twin loto stuff to it. I'm also looking at that custom unit from AoZ with the zebra camouflage, and apparently gunpla builders also had a modified GM Cannon II, but that one is less up my alley. Besides the tank treads I've also added a zaku machine gun to the left arm. I just need to figure out how to sand putty better, at least on the arm. The thruster on the first leg I've worked on is really smooth.

I guess a good question to ask for those that have utilized putty and plaplate, how much of the putty would show when I prime the model? Most of the putty is really smooth or in the seams of certain areas, so it'd appear to be flat surface after priming it, right?

lol I actually had this exact same theory but then it occurred to be that in the pics he posts you can frequently see his past builds that he has shitted the thread up previously in the background of the pic and they are still nubby as ever but now with a nice layer of dust on them.

And actually, yes, under the right circumstances or a combination of them such as a lack of a social life and/or girlfriend, being under aged, having a mental disorder, being an attnetion whore, etc. it is very possible for someone to waste their time and money like this for years.

There is nothing wrong with being a straight build noob, especially if you're looking to keep at the hobby and gradually get better at it, but even if you're not and just enjoy doing out OOB builds that's fine too. Yeah, figured as much. Pic 1. The excess putty that I circled should be sanded down as much as possible, right? And the sort of "dust" level over won't show up after priming?
It's pretty sloppy, it's my first time using putty and I've been using the tip of a paperclip to apply it. Somebody mentioned toothpicks before, but I don't think they'd be any more accurate with application and in this case it's just user error.

Same with this. I don't think I needed to post this as another example of the excess, I just wanted to know how this looks to other people. I think it'll look a lot better after it's primed and painted, though. Basically an idea taken from the Zaku F2000. I wanted to add heat hawks to the other arm like that GM Cannon II custom but somehow I don't have any extra heat hawks.
Guess I could pick up a "giant axe" zaku and try that, too, lol. I can't think of a better weapon to put on the other arm. Although I should probably get a shield too. Decisions.

This is a dangerous mentality.
You need to make sure that shit looks as good as possible before you paint it. Primer can help but it's not going to help as much as you imagine with something like that. You should work with primer as a separate step when you are done gluing everything you need on. The process takes several times priming and sanding to make sure it looks proper.

Those are pretty much the standard I would say, I personally can't think of any other sort of pen or marker from the top of my head that are better than Gundam Markers.
I've heard good things about panel washes/washing (not sure which form to use here, ESL), if you ever want to branch into that, there are a few good tutorials on Youtube.
I personally haven't tried it yet because none of the stores near me stock the pre-made ones - I don't trust myself to mix/thin the paints correctly personally - and it's just a pain to order online most of the times.

See if you can get a better picture though (if you're >>14233137)

Because from what I can tell the spots on his kneecaps and on the ankles aren't entirely lined yet, so I would recommend just quickly doing those. That's just how I would do it, really.
>>
>>14233272
Also, this is also just something I personally do since I'm still a snapfag and don't paint yet, but if you haven't already, try lining the beam rifles/weapons as well.
I find it gives just that little bit of extra depth or detail to the usually bland gray chunks HG weapons come in, if you're not going to paint them

Question time, so this fucker, in puke gold with a single colored bazooka with an arm part that replicates its look after the bazooka blew it off.

Doesn't sound like good value for money does it, and the markings, are they water slides or just those rg stickers?

Debating on on the following

>get pic related
>get the hg gold frame because cheaper
>just get the red frame and paint it

On that note, thinking of the blue frame but same problem again, do any of the weapon parts sets give you the blue frame or gold frame's bazookas?
>>
>>14233903
I'd be far more tempted by the RG Gold Frame if they had gone with a more drastic revision, like Gold Frame Amatsu. That said, I'm a massive Astray whore, so I'm almost certain to buy it anyways.
>>
>>14233903
Getting the new RG is gonna be cheaper/just as expensive as the older HG Dalong has it listed under limited so it might have been Pbandai? I don't really know.
Getting the red frame and painting it is good too, but then you don't get the addon parts like the arm nub or the bazooka.
So if you're just doing it for the frame color, painting is best choice. Cheapest and easily done.
If you're doing it for a set though, hunting down the PBandais is the best route.
Especially since the Blue frame's RG came out recently you can pick it up with the lower end of scalper prices. It'll only inflate given time.

The term "snapfag" refers to someone who just does a bare-bones build of his kit, this means just simple assembly, no painting at all and maybe use of the stickers.

The name comes form the snap build system all gunpla kits use aka: no-glue needed building.
There is nothing wrong with just doing a snap build if you are just new or getting into the hobby or just a guy who wanted to have one or two kits of his fave mobile suit.

The problem is when fags like "Snaptfit-kun" (a tripfaggot) come here(a thread meant specially for people to seek advice and feed back about actual painting and customizing of their kits) to gloat about how "better" they are than other people because they just make snap builds and taking pride that they will never touch a brush in their lives.

So basically it's all good and dandy to be one, as long as you don't be a faghetti and gloat about it?

Pretty much.
I mean, you bough it you do what ever the fuck you want with it, muh gunpla is freedumbs and all that jazz.

Just remember that if you post here you will be judged harshly if you didn't apply the minimum amount of effort.

I do recommend at least panel lining, it really gives vibrance to your gunpla, it will feel like a whole different grade of quality with just that.

And lets not forget reading the fucking guide (the one in the OP).
