Finished Great Dangaioh last week.
I thought it was suprisingly kinda decent. It didn't have anything to wow anyone, but it gets the job done fine. Mostly I liked the fight scenes, music, and some of the characters.
My biggest issue is that it's not even finished, it ends in the most abrupt way possible(worse than the first), which sucks cause honestly I was genuinely interested the whole way through and they clearly were building up to something.
What did you guys feel?
It's an average super robot show that has the name dangaioh attached to it and for some reason mia alice is connected to all this.
It's a tribute show done in the wrong way. Instead of scattering subtle references to 70s~80s mecha anime throughout the show as fanservice, G Dangaioh was a show made almost ENTIRELY out of references. Take the first episode for example, it's one big reference to Mazinger Z with its mecha beast look-alikes and mad scientist, but you barely learn anything about the main cast or setting at the end. Even the abrupt ending you described is another big reference.
You must have a the taste of a saint, because I didn't think G Dangaioh was decent, I thought it was a huge pile of shit.
"Not muh Dangaioh!" aside, the characters, mecha, action and "plot" were really weak and terrible. I guess it's really cute that they decided that they'd blow through the typical mecha set up at the start, but then it's not so cute when they reveal that they've got nothing left up their sleeve afterwards.

Those were my thoughts too. It was really fun and the animation looks great for its time.

Mazinger Z

Oh makes sense Great Dangaioh does want to be Mazinger in a lot of ways.
Not related to Great Dangaiou, but apparently Ken Ishikawa wrote the manga that Dangaiou was originally based off of.

I just recently found out about that, too

What's it called?
The show wasn't good, but I still want to see it in SRW so that it's loose ends get tied up.
Plus it'd be cool to see Dangaioh team with Great Dangaioh.

is it any good?

No scans of it as far as I know, so damned if I know. With Ishikawa behind it, it has to be at least an 8/10 though
