Why does the Gundam Franchise have such an excellent track record when it comes to music?
Even the original had some really notable tracks.

I'm not sure about the original, but I'd certainly agree that overall the OSTs for Gundam series are excellent. Zeta, V Gundam, G Gundam, Wing, Turn A, etc. all had great background music.
>>14210900
Soldiers of Sorrow is a favorite of mine. Hence the inclusion.
Sunrise is a big studio that can afford to hire well-known composers like Kanno.
>>14210911
But its music is even comparable to that in the film industry. Better than most soundtracks from visual media in general.
True, Sunrise is rich. I won't deny that.
But is that all there is too it?
>>14210922
I'd say it's at least a respectable part of it; Kanno is a film composer herself after all; her discography on Wiki lists several movies.
It has it's down points as well, specially 0080 and 0083

Tomino has good taste in music.
>>14212185
He does. He actually has an ear for music, and composed all the OPs and EDs for most of the shows he's directed.

G-Reco's OST is great. There is a good deal of atmospheric music that you'd expect from a top-notch RPG. And of course the fantastic ED which should've been the OP.
>>14212192
Turn A Turn is still one of my all-time favorite openings. Does he also direct the visuals of his openings, though?

My favorite from Zeta.
>>14212192
Adding to that anon, he specifically wrote the lyrics under a pseudonym. Plus his pupil Imagawa also has nice musical taste.

Seriously, Tomino Anime has God tier music.
YOU BELONG TO ME

I think he just wrote the lyrics, not composed.

>Why does the Gundam Franchise have such an excellent track record when it comes to music?
Because score is almost everything when it comes to setting a scene.
Sometimes you get fuckups like CCA though.
>>14212888
Or 0080. Usually though even the worst Gundam shows tend to have fantastic scores.
>>14212587
>>14212883
Ah, I see; thanks for the correction.
I'm glad he takes such an interest in these things, considering that most OPs and EDs are picked for some sort music artist promotion shit.
>>14212888
Beyond The Time is the only song I really like from CCA and it's horribly butchered when it plays during the credits
>>14212888
>>14213319
You people are insane.
CCA has incredible music. It has the best orchestral work in the franchise.
>>14213325
>It has the best orchestral work in the franchise.
That's Zeta.
>>14213340
That's Victory.
>>14213382
That's [My particular favorite Gundam and not yours].
>>14213390
No, really. Zeta and Victory have two of the best soundtracks in Gundam but Victory edges out Zeta.
>>14213340
>>14213404
I like zeta's but I feel it's definitely way better utilized in the show along with the scenes rather than something listened to alone, where it feels a little bland. Surprised nobody has mentioned G Gundam's OST. It's so varied and great.
If there is any reason as to why I want Gundam to become popular in the west, it's so I don't have to travel to Japan to go see the concerts.
I really like the F91 Music

Can't find "A New World" from Zeta on youtube. What gives?
It's literally maximum comfy: the music. I want to live in a town whose soundtrack is that song.
Seed may suck but you have to admit the soundtrack is pretty good
https://youtu.be/alLgV8jXTxY
>>14218158
It definitely had a number of standout tracks (Justice and Freedom is one of my favorites) but overall, I think Sahashi did a better job with his Big O and FMP soundtracks than he did on SEED.
