I'm a fan of Mospeada. Killing everyone in the first episode got my attention right from the start. I liked the premise of the ragtag guerrilla resistance trying to stay alive on Inbit-occupied Earth, and the fact that a lot of episodes played with the fact that they couldn't even trust the people that they were supposedly trying to liberate. I did find it odd that they are constantly scavenging for HBT but seem to have an unlimited supply of missiles, though.

They acquire mecha and upgrades more organically than most shows do, and the new ones don't replace the old ones. It's nice that the ride armor is still being used even in the final episodes and the Tlead still gets used for things besides attaching to the Legioss.

I liked most of the characters, especially Yellow, but Mint is the obvious exception. Even then, I don't think Mint is worst-ever tag along kid, she's just a strong contender for the title.

Did you forget about the part where Yellow Dancer tries to have sex with the Invid chick when they first meet in the Japanese version? In the Robotech version, he's simply concerned while the Japanese version is the opposite. That part creeped me out. Also, his character is more of an ass in the JP version while Robotech he isn't.

For one thing, how they "carry themselves" is exactly the same because it wasn't reanimated (until Love Live Alive) so their body language is exactly the same.
For the other part, unless you're fluent in japanese you're comparing the actors whose speech you can understand with how you guess the actors in a language you don't understand might be emoting.

While I usually do prefer subtitles because my very limited grasp of japanese means I am not able to detect bad actors I am also fond of the dub of Mospeada because of nostalgia. If you like the dub better than the sub because you can pick up on subtleties of the VA's performances, that's fine, but you shouldn't act like the performances in the dub are better than the performances in the original when you can't even understand it to begin with.

What really seems like an eyebrow raiser is the episode where he's sunbathing wearing nothing but what appears to be panties despite not having been in crossdress, only to have Machuda the jungle prince knock him unconscious and have him appear later bound and gagged as the boy's "wife."

Yellow spends a lot of time trolling Ray, usually by slipping into his feminine voice to make jokes about Ray's crush on Yellow's alter-ego. In Robotech a lot of Lancer's jabs and jokes are replaced with generic filler dialogue, so he's a much more vanilla character by comparison.
