You have a drastically different idea of what makes it "better" then. Filtering aside, the old encode is somewhat bitstarved at times too, given that I encoded it with targeted two-pass encoding. The newer encode wasn't just designed to preserve more grain, but to hold up better as display sizes increase (Older 720p shows are becoming problematic on 1440p and up displays).
