Reds get their own upgrade a fair amount of the time. Armed TyrannoRanger, AbareMax, DekaRed's battlizer (and later Fire Squad), Carnival, ToQ #1 Shadow/Rainbow...

Then there's Hyper Shinken Red and Chozetsu, which weren't exclusive, but they were mostly used by Red.

Not sure why it's a problem in Kyoryuger for everyone when Red always steals the fights.

Rider has always had a larger fanbase than sentai. An adult, overweight and smelly fanbase that saved rider from irrelevancy after several flops and a 10 year hiatus. The thing is though, Sentai has the advantage of PR. If they were to market it on the west there might be something there. I mean, we already know that west is filled with nostalgiafags and fans that are itching for some grimdark. It would also be great for Amazon since they're becoming a player now. So you could run KR for one part of the year and sentai for the other, hopefully retaining some KR fans, get your gook normalfags and kiddies and then rely on the west. It's not easy finding gaijin actors in Japan, plus talent agencies would probably get mad if one of the top roles of the show was taken by someone they imported over. I'm convinced the reason why the first Miss America and Jiraiya were okay was due to them both being ethnically Japanese.

The main problem with the Zyurangers was that they barely had any personality. Boi and Dan were basically the same kind of young teen, Geki was the leader, Goushi was the strongman and Mei was the girl. Burai was the first real sixth and his personality was as such.

Not that I can recall, been a while since I saw it, but the Gekiranger villains do directly attack the Gekirangers themselves rather than civilians a lot of the time, due to the whole rival schools thing.
As for capitalising on fear... there was the weird episode with the motw turning Jan and Retsu into babies and preying on Ran's insecurity re: being maternal? The mirror episode might also count as using fear as a tactic, though that was also weird as fuck. There's also the Jan's dad thing, but that was pretty self-inflicted, I don't remember Leo etc. being HAHA LOOK UR DAD HATES YOU so much as Jan being all OH NO MY DAD HATES ME despite the fact said dad was basically an animated corpse.
