I feel like saying "name a good thing that isn't Shotaro" is a bit unfair, because Shotaro is the best thing in the series by far, both because of his character, along with his connections to the other characters in the series that grow and mature over time. He's integral to why W is good, and his arc alone is what makes the series.

I didn't like the Wizard part either. It had some of Sakamoto's worst excesses with the dumb Poitrine fighting scenes and the story itself just went nowhere since they wanted to keep that twist for a joke at the end.

The Fourze epilogue was good, but then the crossover annoyed me by how much they shafted Fourze and tried to make Wizard look cool. There are at least three moments exactly like this one - both Fourze and Wizard attack. Fourze's attack fails but then Wizard's succeeds. Fourze also doesn't use any Switches aside from his main ones in the final battle, even though he had used a variety of Switches in his own part.

The way Eiji just appeared out of nowhere and the other Riders just go away before the final boss appear was also pretty dumb.

The concept is great and it has everything a good story needs except a nicely executed plot.

I stick by the fact that anything related to Phillip was what brought the series down and the whole thing of "The Earth's Database" They should've kept it straight detective themed and not show who the villains were (to the audience) from episode one. Rather have that as the on going mystery for them to solve/plot twist.

W was the first post-Decade Rider series I watched (I had seen Kuuga, Faiz and Blade before that point) and because of that, W felt like a really fun novelty that I enjoyed a lot.

It wasn't until I finished Fourze and OOO in sequence after it that I looked back at W and realized it was my least favorite of the Megamax trio.At this point though I'd have to say that I enjoyed Gaim and Drive more than it as well, but it's still higher than Ghost

People way over-exaggerate OOO's filler bits and rewriting. I loved the series the whole way through and although it's kind of obvious where some stuff was adjusted on the fly (Gamel and Mezul both getting killed off for a decent chunk of the series, waffling back and forth on Date's defection then him surviving to the end of the series, GaKiriBa being used a grand total of twice), none of those impact the series when you're watching it through in one go with a marathon, and the general structure of the smaller episodic plots with the medal-swapping is strong enough to carry it through those points until a more urgent villain threat presents itself.

When the show gets off its ass and the purple medals show up, it doesn't let up until the end.

I used to go back and forth between Agito and OOO, but then I went back and re-watched OOO and now it's definitely my favorite. Took me a while to warm up to Agito, but holy fuck I loved OOO from the word "go".

Great main Rider, pretty good secondary (just wish they didn't job so hard and then didn't have to share the spotlight between Gotou and Date), good female supporting character that helps contribute to character development without being shoehorned in as a love interest, memorable villains with distinct personalities, and Ankh. That's due to Kuuga's own foundation though. If they had been open to crossovers and stuff from the start, rather than acting like the show was too good for that), you'd likely see Kuuga himself as a Rider being much more relevant afterwards - even if his actor didn't return.

However, due to Kuuga's approach leading the way to the Heisei shows being completely standalone from each other, and the actors' dislike of tokusatsu for recent crossovers, we get its current situation.

Fourze is the one of those I don't own but it honestly seems like the most fun.
OOOs you just put three medals in and wave a piece of plastic over them.

Fourze you get to flick all these wacky switches.

W Returns was always planned for 2 movies.
I think it's easy to assume Gaim Gaiden also was.
So logically, even though they didn't announce them at once, the plan to have two movies for Drive Saga was there all along as well (in fact they even called it "Drive Saga" to have a coupling title).

But none of those take the budget away from the airing TV show. If anything, they take away production time, but none of the people working on Amazons work on Rider or Sentai currently (which are both ran by some relatively fresh faces).

Tajador still has its issues. At least on mine, the Taja spinner is so loose in his hand as to be basically unusable unless he's holding it straight up, and you really need the wings from either the effect parts set or takajaba to get the most out of it, either of which costs more than the figure alone. I also don't like how the head lacks the up or down range to pull off any cool flight poses.

Ryuta Tasaki is usually the head director for a big chunk of heisei rider show and certainly was on paper the head director for W, OOO, Gaim and Drive (he actually only directed a handful of the latter two).
