General question for anyone who comes into the thread: What do you usually do with the sprues of your kits are finishing up a kit? I've heard they can be cut up to be used as diorama pieces.

Yep. I wanted to make the kit fully before taking it apart and painting the cockpit/most bits of it before focusing on Noa and Asuma. I've never really painted such small persons before so I'm somewhat excited by the idea.

not gunpla but you guys need some plamo in here some times to mix things up. just snapped together a quick test fit of a 1/700 HMS Nelson i got last week, its an odd design but i like it.

not long ago somebody in this thread or the /toy/ one mentioned ship kits being very complicated and more difficult than gunpla, which is only partially true. ships are tiny and have loads of pieces but are such a small scale that you dont need to add a whole lot of additional details to get a display piece you can be happy looking at on your shelf. plus most warships are grey hunks to begin with so you dont need to paint very much to get them looking accurate out of the box. experienced modelers will add alot of details and weathering but its extremely difficult at 1/700 scale and require alot of scratch-building and expensive third party detail-up sets that arnt nearly as necessary compared to large scale armor or aircraft kits.

The Heavyarms project has been going good, and I was able to attach the knife, but not extremely securely, still seems like it could come off if you're too rough. I also painted the chest in flat white, although the super glue I got on it when I had it as a standard Heavyarms is even worse looking now, and the second ball joint glue is setting right now.

that colony kit is no joke, it has 3 large clear windows that have to be masked and everything is held together with these weird pegs, and you have to paint the inside. It's 13 pieces just for the colony and flaps, not counting the docks or the stand. It's not like 2 halves you just put together.

I had an idea for a project and maybe you guys could help me out.

I wanna make an RG Nu Gundam ver Ka using the MK II as the base.

Edits off the top of my head:

So since I need a 1/100 scale building for my current project I will need to scratchbuild it. So to help with scaling it I picked up a HO scale building form model railroading to use as a reference since it is fairly close (HO is roughly ~1/87 scale).

I'm going to use it as painting practice for buildings too since I've never painted one before. Should be fun.

Besides the the parts that are used from the Barbatos, the inner frame of Kimaris is pretty nicely detailed. The amount of detailing that Bandai put onto the armor and inner frame is pretty great imo

If you're patient and don't particularly care about having your thing right away it's fine. All the complaining is from people used to having their item shipped from their own country and receiving it in a matter of days. This is stuff coming from overseas, so the most cost effective way of shipping things over is to put it in a freight box with other stuff, then load it into a ship with a ton of other freight boxes.

Runners are very stressed when cut with nippers, you would have to repaint them or they'll just look like twisted white plastic tubes. Just work on detailing your kits. For effects, paper mache can work but that's too much work for you.

I really hate the blocky shoulders on the Schwalbe Graze and have the Age Razor parts. While this isn't an exact way it would be done you get the gist. Figure it makes sense in the setting considering it's all melee.

Thanks. Won't be for some time, just breaking into the harder side of gunpla with painting and welding. The Razor parts are super neat, but all anyone uses them for is their super snowflake millions of swords Age/Exia/00/Astray. Whereas what I envisioned is more like a graceful sword fighte who dances around the battlefield, if that makes any sense. The heels are normally a turnoff for me, but with a theme like this they work.

I beefed my plans for the backside of the calves. I salvaged the one decently remolded part and added it onto the top of the head and re-angled and sharpened the fin. Hopefully it doesn't come out too edgy.

About how long do you think it will take for the Hi Nu ver Ka to become a rare and sought after kit like the GN Archer or Dynames?

Fixing up that old HGUC Zaku II really makes me appreciate the thing a bit more.

Articulation isn't the greatest and the proportions seem a little off on some parts, but it's really solid.

Still need to do a little modification on the monoeye and head cables though to make the head fit together again.

The seamlines have been pretty easy to fix, too.

Just looking at some of my models I think of how underwhelming some of the less dressed ones are, I even got Barabatos for the Mace originally though I did actually like the suit design.

That being said my favorite gimmick that I'll probably never see in a kit is armor purge because nothing is cooler than seeing the big guy drop the pounds so he can kick your ass at light speed.
