what company makes the most affordable macross toys that aren't shit? also, sorry if i should have posted this in /toy, if so i'll fuck off and go there
>>
Nobody does. You can get affordable shit, expensive shit, and expensive decent, but no affordable decent. Suck it up and fork out that $150.
>>
>>14068264
You want good toys? You're gonna have to pay.
Please note that Macross Plus and 7 toys have MAJOR transformation issues on account of the designs being physically impossible.

I have minimal complaints about Bandai's Hi-Metal line. Proportion wise, I actually think they're better than the Yamato toys. Plane selection is a bit limited though, since only the VF-1 and the M7 VF-19 variants are out so far.
>>
Revoltech.
If you are looking for afordable and show accurate, grab a plamo. They are not toys but most can transform, are using high quality molds and when they brake are cheap to replace. If you want awesome, show accurate and, sadly, stupidly expensive, gonwith whatever current name for yamato's zombie is.

Also, wait for between shows slump in popularity, it affects prices.
For reviews, collectiondx is decent when it comes to valks.
>>14068428
I get yf19 but 21 has rather simple transformation.
>>
>>14069276
>Revoltech.
lol
>>
>>14069303
OP asked for toys. Revs are robust and unless chewed pretty much indestructible.
>>
>>14072579

Yeah but why would you not chew them
>>
>>14069276
The revoltechs are terrible and I wouldn't wish them on anyone. There aren't any transformable models worth recommending either.

Bandai Hi-metal 1/100 really is the only way to go if you're too stingy for the 1/60's. 1/100 is experiencing a revival lately so that's something else they have going for them.
>>
I have a 1/100 VF-1S Toynami figure and it's been pretty good. Decent sculpt, decent paint application, accurate-enough transformation and it was a good price.

The toynamis are kinda cheap and nasty. They might be satisfactory if you've never seen the hi-metals.
>>
Any good sturdy versions of the vf117's?
>>
>>14072770
if you mean vf171, the cannon fodder (green/black)1/60 DX vf-171 was a QC disaster but the problems were supposedly fixed on later releases. I wouldn't call them sturdy tho and they're not fun to transform imo
>>
>>14072781
Doh. Yes, I meant the vf171. Guess I'll wait till they improve on it. To bad, they look pretty cool.

It's unlikely there will be a new 171 mold for a long time so if you like the design maybe just pick up an alto and be careful with it.

VF-17 was better playability-wise but the shorter nose might be a deal breaker for you.

If you're looking for Zentradi mecha toys your options are fairly limited. The Regult is the easiest to find. In the 80's Matchbox made a large vehicle toy, sans pilot, that would later be re-released in Exo-Squad. The Regult is also available as a vinyl toy by Toynami. It was also released as a Revoltech and just recently released under Bandai's Hi-Metal R line, these two are probably the best iterations.
>>
>>14075435
The Glaug was also done up by Matchbox and got the same treatment for Exo-Squad. Hi-Metal R will also be releasing a Glaug later this spring. If it is anything like the Regult it would be the best one to get, although it would not be on the cheap side with a $130 suggested retail price.

The Matchbox version of the Glaug and Regult had a opening cockpit that seated a pilot figure that was slightly smaller than a contemporary G.I. Joe figure.

Speaking of Matchbox, as far as I know they are the only one who have made a toy of the Zentradi Power Armor.

Finally, the Quaedluun-Rau as seen in DYRL was done up by Yamato.

They also hold the Revoltech Yotsuba very nicely. I had mine in my Glaug for ages.

Honestly this. I have been collecting macross for about two years now there is no such thing as a cheap macross toy. Sack up and get what you pay for when i started collecting it was ungodly expensive or nothing.

>>14068428
LOL the Arcadia and bandai YF-19s are very very good, borderline perfect. Arcadia has crappy ankles and kinda floppy wings and the bandai has some other problems inherent to bandai valks. Plus its really really tight like scary tight, when you first get it and the fast packs fall off but other than that both are awesome, awesome toys
