No, not really. Ghost has a good writer wh owrote Ultraman Taro and has a history in focusing on characters and intrigue, which happens to be one of GHost's strong points. The proper criticism is the forced focus on the toys and the all-over-the-place pacing.

Kiva was written by Toshiki Inoue, who has a very bad track record with his writing after Agito. Faiz was a convoluted mess of communication issues, anything he wrote after that (Blade's Takoyaki arc, Kabuto's Dark KItchen arc) are known to be batshit insane and make NO sense in the plot whatsoever, and then Kiva really fucked it up. If Ghost over-uses toys, Kiva's the opposite and underuses them. He rides his bike THREE TIMES. In the entire fucking show, movies included. And the entire plot is a clown car of plot holes, wasted arcs, and uninteresting characters and a failed Western-style "Mild-mannered hero" archetype for the protagonist due to being too extreme in both directions. Oh, and time travel self-abortion and NEO-FANGIRES, PAPA (WHich destroyed any plot resolution available, even fucking forgetting the motif of Kiva's "Breaking the Chain," which was both breaking out of your insecurities and breaking the perpetual cycle of the Fangire royalty) didn't help.

The problem was that they were all front-loaded to the first 10 episodes of the show. There wasn't much breathing room to let things settle naturally because almost every episode out of that bunch had to introduce a new form and a new attachment for Takeru's sword. Ore has a fighting style that it only ever got to use the pre-show teasers because the proper show needed him to fuck around with all the eyecon powers.

I like it. It's the "Girigiri Ghost" I was promised and it's definitely entertaining. I feel like this is the "Fuck any sense of subtlety" opportunity Ghost needed, and it'll help bring a stronger and changing personality dynamic between Takeru and Makoto.

Initially Makoto, sporting the Persona Berserker on the Specter suit was obviously abrasive and angry, but he was always in control. He outdid and still outdoes Takeru at every turn. to the point Takeru goes into outbursts and becomes more hotblooded. Now towards the end of the show, Makoto lets out that foreshadowed berserker and Takeru lets go of his rage, going for that sick-ass Mugen nirvana.

And Alain sits in the corner, cuddling a Possessed Specter plsuhie.
