Well, the whole premise and justification for the invasion is laughably terrible. And then instead of at least getting a good mech action show, it's just zero-personality autism boy overcoming everything with his "strategies" that are equally implausible. There's just nothing good about the show. All of the characters are ludicrously stupid cardboard cut-outs. There is no real world-building, just a garbled exposition dump in episode 1 and then you're supposed to somehow care about what's happening enough to just go with it...

I dunno man, I could go on and on about how terrible this show is from its very first minute.

And more importantly, "it happened in real life" is not an acceptable justification for unsatisfying fiction. Leaving the viewer thinking that the whole setup for the story is completely stupid is not a good way to start a show, even if you intend to add more depth later.

From my point AZ is shit because:

1)Plot twists are literally thrown on stage without any preparation.

2)Characters who behave specifically to make happen the most absurd things.
I can give examples, but it would be long. the Slaine/Inaho scene was just one of many.

3)Backstory totally nonexistent and magic shit that is never justified or explained. The whole Aldnoah story is totally forgotten. It becomes just an excuse to justify secondary plot issues or superior mars mecha that, in any case, are here just for show... and destroyed like stupid fools by SUPER INAHO.

4)A total unawareness of how a war work and I had never seen a show so ignorant on the subject. This is one is the most serious flaw, because the show make a completely wrong and inconsistent message about what is right and what is wrong in war.

5)The story is cut without a real ending, and everything seems to be incomplete and inconsistent with the initial premises.

There were a few valid complaints, details in the setting/story were retconned, reliance of the story on a Gary Stu protagonist to do everything, cg wasn't good, poor character development and several bad fight scenes.

It was a pretty average mecha show.

The first three episodes actually give Inaho some kind of character by making him seem legit autistic instead of just the generic stoic character. In the next 20 episodes, even him getting a robot eye left less of an impact on how audiences viewed him than that early scene of this being a guy so firmly rooted in routine that he was cooking eggs instead of running for his life.

The first arc against the pillbug Kat is actually well written and the plot is rushed but holds together. Everyone's motivations still make sense at this point.

Its only later in the show that everything falls apart.

Yes, to drop it at the 3rd last episode because you can't imagine it can even get that bad and finally couldn't give a shit anymore.
