With that said, I love it. Episodes 14 and 19 are way more powerful than anything I've seeing mecha. The show has its flaws, mainly:

>stupid filter makes everything look weird
>character design is Xenogears level of shit
>tryhard final episode

the ending was fine, imagery was fine, A E S T H E T I C S was fine. I just feel the show skirts evangelion territory for the whole show until the final episode when they just did Eva-like thing. The resolution and time-travel stuff was good.

I have a couple questions as somebody who hasn't seen Rahxephon.

1. Is it about depression?
2. Is it critical of its own audience?

Let's be honest here. Those are the actual story related stuff that separates Eva from other mecha shows.

If it isn't either of these things, then it is NOTHING like Evangelion in any conceivable way that matters whatsoever to me at least. Otherwise, it's just aesthetics and waifus.

Though actually fitting those things would make me wanna watch it more.

Either way I'm gonna get to it eventually. Just gotta finish up Dougram and Gao Gai Gar.

Really, the closest thing to an Evangelion "clone" in anything other than an aesthetic sense on /m/ would be War in the Pocket funnily enough because of the second part, despite that comes out way earlier. Gotta have some tang with that hamburger.

I finished it recently and I enjoyed it a lot. BDs are shit though.

Rah is a pretty good series. Not fantastic, but above average for sure. I appreciated how everything fell into place by the end (even if it was a little heavy handed at times), and the romance between Ayato and Haruka was handled very nicely.

Also the music and mechanical designs were 10/10.
