Yeah, the should pads can't rotate, so the arm only goes up so far. The shouldets can wiggle back and forth just a tiny bit.

The overall poseability is somewhat disappointing for a modern kit. At least the knees can bend almost as far as the MG.

the MG can only pull it off because of its insanely complex shoulders. its got "8" shaped double rotating mounts holding the main pauldron over the shoulder with moving plates on the back of the armor plus the beam saber racks and weapon racks getting in the way directly behind it on each side.

I watched everything made before it in production order + Unicorn before watching it, I didn't feel like I gained any special insight. But you shouldn't view Turn A as some goal, some final boss, to aimed toward. By itself it's a fantastic series, so focus on the show as is and don't actively look for references and expect a shit ton of them.

I modded my Turn A to have a more normal shoulder. You just need to remove the back panel of the shoulder that's attached to the torso and weld it to the main piece. With a little sanding it now can rotate like any other gundam arm.

Sorry I don't have pictures. The Torso joint snapped and I ended up replacing it anywyas. I never got around to modding the new one's shoulders.

It didn't really look different anyways. You just weld the two shoulder parts together and cut the so it can move like the front shoulder part. The small white triangle parts on the torso makes it look like it still attached. when you have it in a neutral position.

Indeed. A lot of kits are boxy or winged, so if you swap out for another box or another sort of backpack it's not as weird. Turn A is just so slim and rounded there aren't many good places to add things, and it's hard to find anything to swap into it that won't just be jarringly incongruous.

There was a Turn A kit based on a custom Turn A for a Build Fighters gunpla Magazine which has a plugin for extra backpacks for easy partswapping, and details that would match more regular Gundam but it was a P Bandai exclusive so not many people own it.

I like it but not enough to buy even though I love the Turn A.
