It gets the same feel across while using a consistent gender-neutral word. Granted, they could have also used "Ruler" but I think that sounds grander than it should. If you localize something 1:1 a lot of the time it ends up sounding stiff and unnatural.

It seems young for Oshikawa to have retired from suit acting but I could understand him doing it since he wanted to be there for his family full time. After being put on administrative leave from the Ellicott City Fire Department for a false crime (he ran into a burning building to save a child after being told that anyone left inside was to be left behind), volunteer firefighter Russell Banneker finds himself in Tokyo on a reluctant but much needed vacation. He's been given enough money to last him a good while and a mysterious box containing something special for a friend hint: it's his morpher and he's the friend in question.

Suddenly, he sees a monster raising havoc, terrorizing the populace and creating mayhem where it goes! Barely able to fend it off, Russell tries his best to get as many people out of harm's way. *insert number of years here* ago, in another Realm called the Guardian Realm, there were forces of light and darkness. The forces of light were called the Guardians and were the Realm's protectors. The forces of darkness were named the Hadics who are born from the fallen Guardians. A war waged between the forces, with the light being victorious. In doing so, they banished the Hadics to a far off Realm where they could do no harm.

In the present day, the Hadics have risen again. The Guardians knew this day would come and sent their own people to prepare for the uprising, however they did not account one of their own to betray them. It is now up to five of the few remaining Guardians to band together and push back the forces of darkness once more.

Unbeknownst to them, another force of light are watching them, observing them. Evaluating them to confirm if they are fit to become the next Super Sentai...
