The quality is overall declining, they're narrowing down their audience further to the kiddies by making mechs and equipment that looked like they were designed and manufactured by Fisher Price. What got me watching Sentai at first was MMPR, the I watched Zyuranger, then Dairanger. Later I watched Carranger and had a blast, then around the time Go-Busters came out, I watched it as it aired.

After Go-BustersI just gave up on Sentai, mainly because I couldn't get into it anymore. Kyoryuger was cool, but it startedc to lose me about 20 eps in, and like Wizard I dropped it.

Honestly my problem with Sentai is that it's always the same. It's always a

Disney doesn't care about building boy centric IPs anymore. It's been that ways for years and years now. Reason why they bought Marvel was so they didn't have to do anything but slap the Marvel name on a superhero thing and sell it. Same with Pixar and Lucas acquisitions. They sell themselves. Power Rangers is live action and action adventure something more and more kids don't want anything to do with. All the shows on Disney's main channels are all girl centric sitcoms or squash and stretch shows aimed towards small children. Power Rangers failed for Disney because like most companies the dropped their syndication deals, kids weren't waking up early on Saturdays to watch cartoons when they can watch them 24/7. Also, at the time when they had the Power Rangers rights Disney XD was a dumping ground for shows they didn't care about and repeats. So episodes would end up there and shown at unusual times. And like you mentioned there was no marketing for the shows or the toys for that matter. You only saw Power Rangers toy commercials during Power Rangers.
Toku in the states is a hard sell even more so when the companies behind them give up or don't put in effort to push it.

Toku in the states is also more child oriented then family focused. I don't know much about mature moments in sentai being toned down in power rangers but, Ryuki was a dark show with more serious and even creepy moments for older audiences with a touch of childish banter for younger audiences. However when it was adapted into dragon knight it became more of a cheesy 90's show ( No death, just the ADVENT DIMENSION.) aimed at smaller children with no appeal to older audiences.

I seriously fucking hate how they changed the villians in dragon knight. Sudou was a small but fantastic character as he showed just what kind of death battle Shinji was thrown into. He also had a brutal death showing the audience what could happen to shinji if he ever failed, really raising the intensity in the show overall. And in Dragon Knight he's a rich kid named Richie who gets banished to the advent realm and my god its retarded fuck.

Dragon Knight's not particularly spectacular, but I can say with 100% sincerity that if you just want a straightforward toku show without the narrative symbolism and thought like Ryuki, it's just fine.

That driver is the reason why I don't just jump on the "muh self-functioning gimmick" bandwagon. The driver was fucking awful as a trade off for the lockseeds being self-functioning.

For motifs or belts, some are better off having a functional belt. Like the Drive Driver, which I think is one of the best belts where the electronics are inside itself. Really couldn't and wouldn't have it any other way.

The Sengoku Driver is great. The belt has sound and the lockseeds have sound. Its quick and simple, unlike the Drive Driver, which was noisey, required more actions than should be necessary to get the sounds and had gimmicks that are boring on their own. Mach Driver was a good combination of simple and "realistic".

Pre-Modern DW you shouldn't touch until you've watched some Modern DW.

When it comes to Modern DW, Season 1-4 are dated and probably aren't that bearable to non-Brits. Season 5 is when they started getting a much higher budget, hence the better lighting and camera work. It's recommended that you start here since it's a jumping on point and then you can dabble around with earlier serials and seasons later.

It's a good show but it does suffer from some ass-pull writing.

That's not true the companions can enhance the Doctor's character or ruin it. Characters like Donna who was like his wise cracking female pal was a great side kick.
