Well they were but supposedly the reason that nobody higher up stopped Fukuda from switching the lead to Kira is because all 2chan did was bitch about how they wanted Kira back and fuck Shinn. And the reason the show focused so hard on the Shinn vs Kira part after a while is because 2chan was hyped beyond hyped at that shot of them fighting in the first OP.

And SF was as overpowered as it was because of all the things 2chan thought it had (Dragoon wings, wings of light like Destiny etc) Fukuda saw and decided to add. And IJ's entire existance (and Savior shafting as a result) was because 2chan said "Well if there's an upgrade Freedom there should be a Justice too!" etc.

Basically every time 2chan was in agreement about something Fukuda went "That's a great idea we should totally do that"

Pretty much, the industry is oversaturated thanks to senmongakkou that claim to be able to train kids to become VAs (they basically teach you how to breathe and make you exercise, otherwise you either have talent or don't). The graduates then sign up on to agencies (they pay the agencies to be listed, not the other way around), and wait for the agencies to give them auditions which may or may not get them jobs (usually not).

The small crowd you hear in every show ever is the one that actually makes a living from being VAs. The ones that you may hear in maybe one named role a season are probably working the convenience mart registers six days a week.
