Honestly? It seems more like outside of blowing up the EA, he was just doing whatever Rey told him was a good idea. Did he even meet Durandal in person after getting his FAITH badge?

That's the trouble, I don't even think Shinn believed in the Destiny Plan, he was just doing it because that's what the cool kids were doing. I honestly can't see what he would get out of it or why he'd like it.
And that's the trouble with this series, if they had written this character as if he had lost his way or something, that'd make sense, but no, they couldn't do that.
