And? Its a love it or hate it design to most and it tends to grow on people, i know it did on me especially while watching turn a. Personally part of the love for me comes from its motion and how fluid it seems to move.
>>
>>13822295
The Turn A itself is a terrible design, but the Turn X and SUMO are GOAT.

>>13822339
I had the opposite problem. Watching the show only made me hate it more.
>>
How do you even find such obscure groups to whine about, OP? Let alone amongst the porn that flooded it for the past 10 years.
>>
>>13822345
Yeah, we need more RX78 clones! Fuck different designs, give me my NT-01, GP01, GP03, Ground Type, and Mk.II back!
I HATE when they don't stick to the prescribed formula. I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT
>>
>>13822407
Quit sperging out. I just don't like how the cockpit is literally hanging off of the front of the machine.
>>
>>13822407
The Turn A fanbase, everybody! They go apeshit whenever somebody says they don't like one design from one show!

The wrong kind of silly. Mech Moustaches belong in G Gundam and G Gundam only.

Turn A wasn't meant to be as ridiculous as G Gundam. It'd be like if Ez-8 had a big robot top-hat for no reason.
>>
>>13822345
The SUMO was the original design for the Gundam. Tomino veto'd that and we got the Turn A that we currently have.

Yeah, it figures. I could have gotten behind a SUMO for a Gundam. It would be unorthodox, but not goofy.

Oh shut up you fucking faggot. I love the Turn-A, but not only are you making fans of both the show and suit look like morons, you're blind as fuck to boot because the Turn-A is and always has been an RX-78 clone. It has the same proportions, the same colors, the same weapons - it's just uses slightly different shapes to make them up.
>>

I always liked how Turn-A seemed like RX-78 + Tomino on acid personally.

It's too bad that "proportions" is a completely fucking meaningless word on /m/ because people misuse it this horribly. They have completely different body ratios and totally different distributions of bulk, whether or not they have extra shit hanging off of them is not "proportions" you goddamn mouth breather.

I have no idea why people complain about that. The show happens like 300 years in the future, right? It stands to reason that it would look different from the boxy 79 designs, and it's clear from looking at it that it's still some kind of a Gundam.

I even like the mustache. It reminds me of the weird-ass decorations in some samurai helmets, that were meant to make the wearer look like a carp or some shit.

Now that you've mentioned that I want Tomino to write a Gundam show where the hero pilots an extremely unorthodox Gundam and the villain pilots an RX-78 clone and gets pissed at the hero for piloting an ugly machine that doesn't fit his standard of what a Gundam should be. The villain should have a psycomachine and be trying to change reality to fit his definition of what the setting, it's suits and it's people should be like to be more "Gundam" like, with the hero just trying to have fun and be a decent person and see some cool new stuff and getting annoyed at constantly having to see the same shit. If he's going to attack gunota, get in the fuckers faces.

300 years into the future ? Nah, it's the endtime for all Gundam timelines. Very very far into the future. The Turn A exudes sleekness and power as it should. It's like comparing a Ford model T with a Lamborghini Countach. They're both cars, but one is the future the other the past. Syd Mead captured in a meaningful design what the Gundam of the future (very far future) would be like. Almost a work of art, yet powerful and graceful. Compared to that, the Strike Freedom, the RX-78, the Zakus are nothing more than Ford model Ts. But hey nobody ever said the Gundam fandom had any artistic sense whatsoever. So of course they hate the moustached gundam. It's no Gundam wah wah wah. Cry babies.

Ah ah ah ah G what ? G-recko is about as cannon as the ZZ trilogy movies are. Nothing was BTFO you nincompoop. Turn A still stands in all its glory and continues to represent the endline to all Gundam timelines past, present and future.
>>
>>13823436
>300 years in the future
10,000 years in the future, actually.
Though the Turn A itself was built 8,000 years in the future, and is a 2,000 year old relic at the start of the show.
>>
>>13824179
>10,000 years in the future, actually.
The movies retcon it to 5,000. So it depends on which one you want to believe as canon. Some people prefer the 0079 movies canon, and a lot of others prefer the Zeta ANT movies canon.
>>
>>13824150
>ZZ trilogy movies
I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you know there is no such thing and meant that as a somewhat clever "not at all".
But you're still wrong because the creator of half of the Gundam franchise, including the original series AND Turn A, says that G-Reco is 500 years after Turn A and that the G-Self is the strongest mobile suit ever built.
That means the Turn-A is #2 now (or #3, depending on how you feel about the Turn X) and Turn A is no longer the end point of the franchise, G-Reco is.

Not that I actually liked Reco, I'm not even that fond of the G-Self, but man do I love seeing that stupid moustache knocked out of first place.

>>

> G-Reco is stronger than Turn-A
> The battery run mobile suit that runs out after a week which needs backpacks to be properly powerful and is still mostly made up of stuff to move it is more powerful than the mobile suit that is still running after hundreds of years, is mostly empty space to pack more equipment because it's motive power is so advanced and that handles everything in house

Tomino must have been on drugs then, because there's nothing more advanced about the G-Self than the Turn-A.
>>
>>13824284
TurnA b8ing and shitposting hasn't reached Getter, Zeta, G-Reco or IBO levels yet, but I'll be darned if I won't try my hardest to make it happen.
>>
>>13824301
I think it's just as >>13824226 says. Tomino made it up after the fact to annoy fans.
Nothing in the show implies that it takes place after Turn A, nor does anything imply the G-Self is stronger than the Turn A.
>>
>>13824329
>Tomino made it up after the fact to annoy fans.
I would believe it. Gunotas and people on /m/ are already autistic as fuck and like to have things all listed out and organised in a fucking excel spreadsheet. Then you get Tomino who comes along and throws a big fucking spanner in the works, and all the autists rage and argue over literally irrelevant details. It's like he's an old man at the park, getting his kicks by throwing bread crumbs into a flock of pigeons and seeing them all fight over it
>>
>>13824329
>Nothing in the show implies that
You're opening a rather large can of worms when you use that in defense of the Turn A, because 99% of it's ability is not in the show at all.
Aside from the ability to release a cloud of whatever-eating nanomachines, it seems to be fairly low-spec compared to the average post-2000 Gundam. All that business about the MLB reaching Jupiter, the rifle being colony-laser tier, the nanomachines being able to preserve and/or revive the pilot, warping beams, etc, etc is from outside sources. Mostly from...Tomino himself.

So either you give credit to Tomino's descriptions of his creations, which are what make the Turn A the most powerful ever (up to that point) and accept that he then created a later MS which he stated to be more powerful, or you reject his statements about G-Self and deal with the bulk of Turn A's glory becoming non-canon.

It's a lose-lose situation, I'm afraid.
>>
>>13824352
I never believed Turn A was the strongest because it couldn't even touch Devil Gundam.
>>
>>13824301
i just assume he made a mistake and forgot what he had written down in his script because there isn't shit in g-reco that makes anything in it stronger than the Turn A. it taking place afterwards clearly has no bearing on mobile suit technology, especially coming from what was industrial 19th century america 2.0.
>>
>>13824328

>>
>>13824284

>>
>>13824360
devil gundam isn't uc in any sense. it's all street fighter tournament level garbage bearing the gundam branding.
>>
>>13824352
Nope, just going off of what's in the show. I already ignore the 'Black History Turn A'. I'm the one who always shitposts about the Turn A getting knocked around by a Zaku, for shit's sake.

Either way, extremely powerful beam rifle, self-regeneration capabilities, advanced motor control systems, powerful I-fields, and the Moonlight Butterfly vs the G-Self Perfect Pack's strong missiles. I don't think so.
>>
>>13824377
if the zaku in the first ep of 0079 punched or shoved the rx-78 to the ground as it was standing or already stood up, this would be the same case. it's pilot inexperience, just because it's the strongest or however you want to put it, doesn't mean it's going to break physics and stand upright and not take a swing, like a dandelion stem swinging at a tree trunk.
>>
>>13824389
That's why it's shitposting and not a legit argument, you goof.
>>
>>13824352

Or we simply say his statements about Turn A are canon and about G-Rec are the ramblings of a senile man.
>>
>>13824352

> The Turn-A's reactor is so efficient it's still running after at least a few hundreds years buried inside a statue, possibly a few thousand
> Not only is it still running, the suit itself is in perfect condition, aside from the rifle, which is a piece of external hardware
> It's reactor is strong enough that it can give jump starts to the engines of a spaceship without issue
> Despite being that efficient the reactor is small enough to fit inside a core fighter
> It's mechanics are so advanced the suit itself is almost completely hollow
> It's legs are made of thrusters
> It's chest is just a giant equipment rack
> Can turn invisible
> Has in-built radiation shielding
> It can take Gundam Wing levels of punishment at times during the series
> It also shows a high degree of speed during a few scenes, going fast enough that the animators didn't even draw the suit, only the Moonlight Butterfly wing trail it leaves behind, and even that for only a handful of frames

> low-spec compared to the average post-2000 Gundam

Not really, no. And none of that is from the manuals or games or anything by the way, all of it's from the show itself. The Moonlight Butterfly is by far it's most impressive piece of equipment, but it's still pretty impressive even disregarding it.
>>
>>13824360
Honestly, I have to agree there. If we're going the route of throwing out Tomino's "word of god" authority, then it would have to be Devil. Neither the Turns nor G-Self (nor anything else in Gundam) have even approached Devil's abilities.
Really the only leverage Turn A had in this comparison *was* Tomino's opinion. And while I don't particularly care for the Self (Arcane was much better), and truly must agree with >>13824301 that Tomino's declaration of G-Self's superiority doesn't really wash. There are really only two things I like about Tomino saying that Reco is post-Turn A and stronger than Turn A:
1. It shot down all of those people who were saying the timeline was now UC->RC->Turn A with no room for all the other eras
2. I just don't like the Turn A and am happy to see its creator rescind the one statement that enabled its fans to laud it as the ultimate. I admit that this is pettiness on my part, quite literally a "I might not win but at least YOU LOSE." but hey...we're arguing about which cartoon character would win in a fight so why NOT be childish, right?
>>
>>13824377
I agree.
One could argue that the G-Self did throw the hardest punch of any mobile suit ever when it fought the Elf Bullock. That was some straight-up Dragonball Z level mile-long-knockback-then-fly-along-with-it-for-a-follow-up-hit. But then again it does run out of power faster than anything outside of SEED.

As with the Turn A, the strongest "evidence" in favor of the G-Self is Tomino's word. And, as with the Turn A, if we look at what they're capable of instead of listening to him then Devil is the clear winner.
>>13824389
>just because it's the strongest or however you want to put it, doesn't mean it's going to break physics and stand upright
Domon Kasshu
>>
>>13824426
Pretty sure the Turn A's reactor isn't in the core fighter. Gym captures it without the core fighter and it's used with a SUMO cockpit installed.
>>
>>13824495
Regardless of that, it's probably pretty small since the chest is completely hollow and the only thing in the legs are the thrusters
>>
>>13825836

I went and checked the episode where it gives the Willgame a kickstart and the cables from the Turn-A appear to be going in to the back of the unit, not the cockpit like I had vaguely recalled thinking they went in to. So yea, I was wrong on that. It must be pretty tiny to be in the back though given how much free space the chest as a whole has.
