Despite dying, Haman was a better pilot than ZZ's protagonist. Fuala was better than Uso, and Katejina was close. I doubt any IBO pilot would be able to make them sneeze in skill.

Competent female pilotes as far as I can tell:
Sayla sorta gets semi-competent.
Emma Sheen might be the best, since she doesn't think with her cunt.
Elle is okayish, I don't remember her making any big waves though. (Roux was such a cunt though, why she has fans is beyond me.)
Haman was a good pilot, but ZZ did everything it could to undermine her coolness at every turn.
Victory has Ms. Marbet, she seldom gets a bone thrown her way, but at least she's no Shrike fodder.

Haven't seen any of the AUs apart from 00 and my memory is foggy at best when it comes to that show.
I think in G-Reco Mick Jack was also kinda competent, at least at keeping Genius Klim alive.

Now in IBO we got Lafter, Azee and Michiko who seem like they can keep up with Mika and Guts just fine. In fact every female on the show except Jewhime seems to be able to pull their weight.
