I personally moved on to G Gundam. It never reached the same heights, no where near really, but it was definitely in the same vein. Gurren Lagann was heavily influenced by Getter Robo, so I recommend reading the original Getter Robo manga. It's short and a great jumping off point for the rest of the series. I'd also recommend Gunbuster. It has a lot of similarities to Gurren Lagann.
