G Gundam was my entrance into gundam. It can be kind of drawn out in some places but it's fun if you keep yor expectations low. Fron there I recommend War in the Pocket. It's short and gives you a good feel of what some of the core themes in Gundam are. From there, if you're still up for it, go in to UC starting with the original and work through it in production order. If it was a turn off, then give some AU's a shot.

Well, if you're gonna watch any Gundam, it might as well be G Gundam. Just know that none of the other shows are like it. Expect fun times. Watch the dub for maximum fun

Seriously though, watch it if you want to watch a fun tournament shonen with cultural stereotypes, cool characters and poses, and some good action. And it just happens to have giant robots. It's nor reaaallly a Gundam show, despite the name. Still a good show though, woth some hang ups. I recommend the dub because as bad and cheesy as it is, it really adds to the sheer ridiculousness of the situation
