And how is that a bad thing? If it gets you into gundam. With the way average folk watch gundam these days, the AUs are pretty pointless. The AUs are mostly to draw new fans into the series. Coming to wing after you've watched every other gundam isn't obviously going to impress very much. But it will if you're new to the franchise.
