Megaranger is considered to be a great start for Sentai. Not many Metal Heroes shows have been subbed but MFC have just started subbing the first series Gavan. Sailor Otaku aka Weeaboo Shogun is also subbing the trio Metal Hero show Winspector right now which is very entertaining.

Shinkenger is great for this, but it'll get you spoiled for a lot of the more formulaic shows.

I'll also vouch for Boukenger, but then again I seem to be in the minority around here in that I don't mind watching TV-N. I'll always go for the alternative if there is one, but they're far from unwatchable. Maybe that's just because I haven't seen any subbed show that I haven't done mental rewrites throughout.

I don't know why no one has suggested it, but Liveman is the first show that did this really well, and it's amazing.

Some earlier shows, like Flashman, Changeman, and Maskman had pretty good storylines and weren't extremely episodic, but Liveman really got the formula perfect.

Dobutsu Sentai Juuohger. No one really knows anything except that it's animal-themed. Possibly kings of animals. Personally I hope it'd be a three person team:

Simple: Shir is from France, which tended to dig Sentai that aired from Bioman on (although Changeman never aired there). So of course he'd be more interested in working on shows that are exactly what he watched as a kid. Granted, the other reason might be because the audio is too imperfect/muffled in the oldest entries and Shir isn't exactly experienced enough to rely on his ear without captions, so.

The most common complaint about Goseiger is how the events in the show have no proper-payoff. Thanks to the card-gimmick, most hardships in the episodes are resolved through prayer, with a new card flying out of the heavens, then *poof*, dead monster. Even the final boss was defeated through the power of praying and holding hands.

Goseiger takes like 32/33 eps to get good. Which is a damn shame, as the last two arcs are generally agreed upon as pretty great. And I personally found they didn't use the prayer and power of miracles to save the day thing, well and often enough. They really only did it well with mystic headder, one part in the last arc, and your spoiler, which was actually pretty cash considering what >>13526942 points out.
