Is it really true regeneration?

The impression I got rather was that Kenji is actually assimilating their injuries giving a regen effect which actually fits his schtick with him screaming "Let me take on your pain".
>>
>>13501364
Well, Orihime says one power is poison and the other medicine.
Presumably referring to Koyo's innate SDP getting buffed, and Kenji's newly manifested one.

I don't want to say which is whose specifically though because it's possible both descriptors could refer to either.
Maybe Kenji is medicating his friends, maybe he's poisoning himself? Maybe Koyou is poisoning his enemies, maybe he's giving him some medicine?

Well I guess this episode answers a question I've been thinking about recently.

When a pilot succumbs to assimilation from their Fafner, they would just become a part of the island's Mir anyway, right? That's presumably where the Fafner cores come from, and when a human is assimilated by Festum they become a part of whichever hivemind it belongs to, so two and two.

So in a way it's almost like the Gordian Crystals have always been there, it's all in-line with information we've had since the beginning. Pilots that just literally died being present is a new idea of course, but if they were in range of the island or one of its Fafners then that's plenty explanation.

Man I love this shit. So many ideas and even just lines of dialogue from as far back as DA that continue to have an impact eleven years later.
>>
>>13501623
Well, in season one they explained that the air in the island was the Mir. It's not really a stretch to believe that anythings created/born in the island (as the kids are) somehow returns to the Mir after its "dead".

Can anyone offer me an explanation for Miwa bringing Yumiko back to life? They showed it way back in episode 7 and then never used her power again...
>>
>>13501758
Miwa didn't. Ashoka gave her Yumiko an extension because Miwa really hoped for it.

For expansion on that, see the discussion between Yumiko and Emery towards the beginning of last week's episode.
>>
>>13501758
It was the Mir that "brought" Yumiko's back. She's just a thing that's there to keep Miwa at ease. She has a time limit too.

>>13501760
I think she's more like a recreation of what Yumiko was like, rather than Yumiko herself.
>>
>>13501767
How do you know she's got a time limit, when did they mention that? And I'm pretty sure that it is Yumiko since she still has all her memories and hasn't acted out of character once.

>>
>>13502200
He died after giving a wonderful speech. I don't know why this just occurred to me, but does crossing serve any purpose except for letting them communicate with each other without the Festum listening in? The whole thing about sharing feelings and pain seem rather unnecessary
>>
>>13502229
Shared feeling and pain is probably just included with crossing. Can't selectively choose what is or isn't shared.

Not that the shared pain actually gets brought up that much anyway.

>>
>>13502229
>But does crossing serve any purpose except for letting them communicate with each other without the Festum listening in?

That's a major advantage that shouldn't be looked down on. The original Siegfried system existed for pilot communication between themselves and communication between pilots and the command center.

Since just using open connection can make shit easier for a Festum Mind Gank.

Wouldn't the beam from the lance just enter and exit where it stabbed through? How is this an effective weapon?
>>
>>13503963
Festum regenerate damage unless their core is destroyed.

The lance exists to pierce open the Festum and deliver a blast either to the exposed core or to fire a blast inside and hopefully fry the core as the blast passes through

Okay, so why the fuck does the Human Army continue to think nuking the fuck out of everything is a good idea? Aside from the fact it does nothing against the Festum in the long run it: destroys any remaining livable areas for humanity and also kills thousands of people in the cross file. THERE AREN'T MANY PEOPLE LEFT ALIVE ON EARTH YOU KNOW.
>>
>>13504689
Something something something Hester something something humanity
>>
>>13504689
So that the soldiers and civilians can die as actual humans instead of being assimilated or brainwashed by Festum.
Better nuke your Fafner remains than let the poor souls get gobbled up and used against you, you don't want them to jack your stuff like the submarine and carrier in H&E.
>>
>>13504689
It's still effective, just stronger variants of Festum have recently begun appearing that make it less effective.

Roadrunner still took decent damage from the nuke and was forced to retreat. What's required is follow up AFTER the nuke to clean up stragglers and such. That's what Dustin's team exists for now.

This is also why most other Azazel types have developed counter measures for nukes.

Bellcross has his clouds, Walker dispersed the Mir through the sea, Sats out in space, and Misao has probably developed a good Wells Shield of his own like Ashokas.

Roadrunner just tries to tank it, which also gave him the added benefit that he himself can make nuclear hellstorms as well

In HaE you've got about 4 Azazel types fucking around because they're full of Idun, Yukie, and Polaris' latent hatred. You get a few that just want to live peacefully but are you going to take that chance if you're Nuns? Festum have gotten smarter and you're pretty fucking sure it's because of D Island and whatever shit they're pulling.

Because despite the best of intentions, Tsubaki WAS feeding information to Polaris all of DA.

Ultimately, Misao's plan back in HaE ended up being the most surefire way to success

The Human Army are dumbasses. It has been very clear that they have been fighting a losing war against the Festum and none of their tactics work anymore. Whatever justification ROE Alpha had before is not effective now and considering that Belcross is already laughing, its being used to the Festum's advantage.

Coexistence is clearly the only option and Ahsoka and D-Island are clear, undeniable proof that this is possible. But Hester apparently still thinks magic space faeries will come and somehow make Altair drop dead. Why she hasn't been impeached yet is the biggest mystery of Fafner.

Its why I have no sympathy when Dustins group. They have basically spent valuable men and resources on a wild goose chase despite the fact that their targets have gone out of their way to avoid a fight by walking into a No Man's Land. Why they are still going after them is beyond proper reason. No wonder Narian chose the tough love approach and let them fight Belcross.

I am not sympathetic to stupid people.
>>
>>13504778
Wasn't Hester implied to be either actively trying to fuck over NUN by doing stupid shit? She's probably already assimilated.
>>
>>13504778
>Coexistence is clearly the only option

The issue is that you've got Festum actively attacking still. It's pretty hard to preach coexistence when the enemy is stronger than you and stronger than the group that wanted coexistence.

Roadrunner WOULD have eradicated Ahsoka if not for the timely arrival of Sein and Nicht and Walker would have defeated D-Island if not for Canon and Mimika's sacrifice.
>>
>>13504778

She hasn't been impeached mostly because those that opposed her ended up killed or sentenced to death for being compromised by the Festums. Rampant paranoia plays a large part in her steady grip on the human army.
>>
>>13504788

I think that she is only stupid, greedy and vengeful. She doesn't need to be assimilated to play in enemy's hand.
>>
>>13504731
>being the most surefire way to success
That's like popping up a Murrica world police right in the middle of a world war, I don't think it will work out so well. The NUNS will crank up ROE Alpha to maximum in total war.
>>
>>13504788

Well, they said that Festum in orbit was somehow influencing the Neo UN. So, who knows. Someone's assimilated in Narain's group, so it makes sense that the Festum have someoone, probably multiple people, within the Neo UN.

The more Festum-like abilities the protagonists get, the more the Festum seem to start using human tactics and weapons.
>>
>D Island this D Island that

Why do people keep doing this

NUN pls go
>>
>>13504822

Well, they said that there was a program to restore satellite coverage but failed. It turns out that the human army is using satellite info so the theory is that the plan was a success, but was kept secret. However in space we saw only debris and the other large Festum. It's not a stretch that it's the true mastermind behind the human army.
>>
>>13504789
Who said anything about preaching?

This is not about some hippie belief its about survival of humanity. Humanity can't win the war at all. The only way out is coexistence. There is proof that this can be done.

And its one thing to fight to defend themselves. But going out of your way to waste time and resources killing your own it just stupid when it can be used to better use. Belcross was right to laugh at humans. They are really are too dumb to live.
>>
I hope Akira can win the Tomi-sempai

Its not about preaching, understanding is the only way to actually survive this kind of alien lifeform, the festum are still pretty laid back about their whole objective, look at the ELS, they appeared and steam rolled a whole world until they actually understood that they were doing harm instead of good.

Didn't Orihime say that the new assimilation phenomenon suppresses the old one, so that their lives will be protected? In exchange, they lose their appearances or their minds. So why was Canon's to die anyway?

We don't fully understand what's happening yet.
Like people have theorized, Canon might have been leaving bits of herself in those alternate futures which is why she poofed. If that's the case, when she her final sortie happens she might be able to re manifest as a person or as an existence similar to Koyos.

She might currently be where Koyo was during the middle portion of DA. Coming to terms with her existence.

After rewatching episodes 17-20 this is my theory on what happened.

Mimika's orbing was actually due to the Einherjar system installed in her Fafner which "elimenates pilot exhaustion and creates eternal soldiers" and also allows for information transfer with the Gordian crystals based on the talk from episode 18.

So basically Mimika was devoured by her ability, died and had her soul absorbed by the crystals just like Canon did. However due to the Einherjar system installed in her Fafner the orb was left behind which communicates with the Crysals which allowed her to sync up and control her Fafner even after complete assimilation.

I'm pretty sure that the orb has nothing to do with her specific SDP and everything to do with the Einherjar system because the orb looks like a worm sphere, her growths looked completely different and the one on her eye had other small yellow growths around it.

Sadly this means that it's unlikely that our favorite dead characters will come back in any form other than the crossing. (other than possibly Canon since we never saw the final future she visited)

Here, I don't have to read anymore because I can blow you out simply because Mimika's orbing was happening BEFORE she had the accelerator. Her use of the accelerator just allowed her to push herself farther before becoming an Orb.

Probably in all the BAD END futures where her unit gets wrecked she gets ORB'D and overpowered and a Festum just eats her.

Gee, it sure would have been nice of Reo hadn't dumped all his stats into melee so he could have just shot those 24 Festum to kill or Seri had spent less time exercising her fetish and getting stuff done

But it's always the Tanks job to pick up the slack when DPS is slacking

They specifically stated that the Einherjar system has nothing to do with "killing more enemies".

>>
>>13509009
What the fuck are you talking about?
The Accelerator activates because Mimika's pushing her ability to the limit.

Without the Accelerator she couldn't make a shield to protect the whole island because she'd ORB first since she was already ORBING before she ever had it.

Are you stupid? Are you illiterate? Does your little fan fiction have ANY logic?

I shall spell it out for you because you weren't paying attention to the show.

The accelerator functions as both an amplification device and a suppression device.

Let's say it takes 1 Joule of Mimika to make her shield and Mimika has 1000 Joules she can expend before becoming an Orb.

Each time she used 1 Joule of Mimika, she came closer to being an Orb, which is what those black lumps were. Her body beginning to Orb.

With the accelerator, 1 Joule of Mimika can let's say do the work of 50 Joules of Mimika previously.

So Mimika was getting more bang out of 1 single Joule. This however did not change the maximum amount of Joules Mimika could expend before being ORB'd.

Having to fend off both the massive swarm of tiny Festum and the massive Festum forced her to exert all her Joules, without the accelerator however she would have reached her limit much faster and ended up ORB'd. Thus even IF she's still able to fight while ORB'd, her output would still be only 1000 Joules of Mimika Max. compared to the 50000 Joules of Mimika she could produce WITH the accelerator.

This is a direct quote from when they are looking over the Einherjar model's plans

"The Einherjar Model, soldiers that can continue fighting forever"

Yes it also has the ability to amplify their powers and suppress the rate that they assimilate at as well as the stress they're under when piloting. But the main purpose is to keep them fighting even after they die that much explicitly stated.

The Orb might be from Mimika's SDP like you and others in this thread are speculating, but that doesn't make as much sense if you wonder why Mimika didn't die similarly to Canon and was able to pilot after she died.
>>

Obvious exaggeration.

They say that because the Einherjar is designed to maximize the pilot's longevity, not because it literally allows them to fight forever.

> that doesn't make as much sense if you wonder why Mimika didn't die similarly to Canon and was able to pilot after she died
Perhaps because she's not dead?
>>
>>13509171
Ah fuck, my bad, I wasn't really thinking
>>
>>13509158
>why Mimika didn't die similarly to Canon and was able to pilot after she died.
To the second point, Canon probably WILL pilot after she died.
>>
>>13509158
>"The Einherjar Model, soldiers that can continue fighting forever"

That is a statement made by people who lack full understanding of the model itself and it's purpose. That is also a statement that be said to be waxing poetic because in normal circumstances the Einherjar Model suppresses the assimilation phenomenon to a degree that the pilot will reach their operation limit before they get assimilated.

You're also taking a line translated from it's original language as proof.

Mimika exceeded the natural expectancy of suppression because she holding off a massive number of enemies while also being attacked.

And the reason Canon and Mimikas were different is because we don't understand the nature of this phenomenon entirely but the clear point was that Mimika was exhibiting signs of ORBING before she ever touched the Einherjar.

We don't have all the answers yet but it's pretty clear Mimika's current state isn't because of the Accelerator.

Now that Sui's family life is now relatively healed, Sui's dad will die so that the story can show his mom has learned how to deal with the death of a family member and not take out her sadness and anger on Sui.
>>
>>13509179
If the statement wasn't directly preceeded by
"Until now, the challenge has been either to defeat as many enemies as possible or to keep as many humans alive as possible. This is fundamentally different"
I would be more inclined to agree with you.

>>13509188
Yeah it could very well be translation taken too literally and I'm not positive about where the Orbing comes from but I'm not convinced 100% it's from her SDP.
>>
>>13509198
It's fundamentally different because the Einherjar suppresses the normal assimilation phenomenon to the point of it being a non-issue for normal piloting.

Prior to this the issue was making Fafners that either had amazing fire power but burned their pilots up or Fafners with lesser fire power but allowed for longer prolonged piloting.

The Accelerator if it had existed prior or during DA would have allowed for operation that would not have dealt with any true strain on the pilots. It's only the inclusion of SDPs that causes the entire situation to escalate to where even WITH a suppression device the phenomenon can still outpace the suppression. I mean the enemies assimilation attacks are worse than they've ever been. That was the point of the episode 6 where even a fucking minute long sortie led to serious symptoms manifesting.

Also what more proof do you need that her ORB has to do with her SDP than the black fucking ORBS she was growing.

Here's one last question for.

If the Einherjahr Models didn't exist and didn't have the accelerator then explain what would have happened to all the pilots when their assimilation phenomenon reached the final stage.

And if you say they'd all poof like Canon, please explain how developing lumps, getting heavier, losing the ability to stay awake, developing an uncontrollable assimilation attack, and radical shifts in body temperature all indicate poofing into fairy dust.

You can't also say that they'll just crystallize and explode like previously because Canon didn't.
>>
>>13509323
>poof like Canon
we don't know how Canon specifically died, that happened in a dream, however it would make sense if they turned into worm spheres since they're assimilating with Festums which make worm spheres when they die

Why would making Worm Spheres make sense? Orihime clearly said that the new phenomenon wouldn't kill the pilots. Are you saying Orihime lied? Also Canon being in the Gordion tree does not indicate death, only that her soul has been brought into it.
>>
>>13509346
At the start of episode 18 where they show Canon dissapearing into a tree after talking to Kazuki and Sochie it shows Kazuki waking up from a dream right afterwards.

>Why would making Worm Spheres make sense? Orihime clearly said that the new phenomenon wouldn't kill the pilots. Are you saying Orihime lied? Also Canon being in the Gordion tree does not indicate death, only that her soul has been brought into it.

She said that the new phenomenon wouldn't kill the pilots, however Koyo says that Mimika isn't dead either at the end of episode 20 despite all that's left of her being a Worm Sphere when she died.

I think that Orihime's statement fits perfectly with her personality, she's not as nice as Tsubaki.

The only thing that makes me doubt that Canon would have turned into a worm sphere orb as well is that Koyo said that Mimika is still alive in the Orb. If she's shown to also have grown the tree next episode I think we can assume a similar thing happened to Canon.

Forgot last thread, but nice call!

>
Was out yesterday.
Here's me weighing in on Einherjar, Mimika, SDP, and Gordian Crystals.

According to Orihime, the pilot SDPs exist to protect their bearers, not necessarily their minds though.
Mimika got overwhelmed by the Grendel-types she was trying to hold at bay---same as the two trooper models Kenji sent to siphon the Assimilation Phenomenon.
What's most likely is that the Einherjar model was able to halt the final step of the assimilation and keep it in a controlled state.
Note that the Nibelung system and Crossing were both still active even after she got enveloped by the crystals. Based on that as well as Kouyo saying her soul is in the bowling ball, I'm reasonably certain that she is still alive too.
>>13508899
>died and had her soul absorbed by the crystals just like Canon did
Not likely, given what we know about how Siegfried works.
>>13509413
>A Worm Sphere is a temporary explosion.
>A temporary worm hole.
We have a few examples of them being more than just sudden blinks in time or explosions. DA finale for example.

I think it's a little quick to say it isn't a worm sphere, especially considering there's a lot we don't know. Like before we first saw a Diablo-type play Tron, we didn't know that was possible.
That said, it might not be.
>>13509221
>normal assimilation phenomenon
Well, the pilot's ability to personally manifest SDP isn't normal, so I'm not sure normal applies.

If we take the OP as an indicator, the two groups will probably reunite shortly before the end (I'd guess 24 or thereabouts), and there will be a short timeskip which will enable the Siebehn to be upgraded and the Zero dusted off and spruced up.

If that's the case the Zero will only fight in the finale.

On another note, I didn't know the Vier was now in the OP. You failed me Fafnerbros.

Admittedly, I failed myself more by skipping it on the first watch.

It's because there is no subsampling of the colors. Like the color data isn't compressed at all so it puts more strain on your processor. I've got a decent machine and it the fan sounds as if I'm playing vidya.

Kazuki is that one kid that's both sensitive and not super bright.

He's not that great of a pilot as far as skill goes. He just had an easier time syncing to Mark Elf than anyone else did with their Fafners. I'd argue that Toumi's a better pilot than him even. He just plows through everything using overwhelming force instead of finesse.

It's kind of funny how hopeless this freaking war is.

The Festum have what? 5 years learning about human strategy and the such? In that short time they have learned so much that are raping us in own our game so hard that I can't help but laugh. Give them a few years, maybe a year, and no amount of fafners would help anyone to survive.

Just get Daman or phil raws for DA.
[Festum] for RoL
Daman, ohys, or phil raws for H&E
Exodus has retimed subs in the pastebin through episode 13 for either Flsnow or phil raws, but phil raws will run really choppy unless you have a good rig.

Okay, thank you anon.
>>
Aside from the extended first episode, do the other Exodus BDs add anything or look significantly better?
>>
>>13517209

Yeah. Nicht becomes even more polished, and some of the choppiness in the lines gets smoothed out.
If you can run phil raws, the colors are incredibly warm and there's a huge range.
Mostly, the sound quality skyrockets, which is really the biggest benefit of blurays anyway.

Seeing the old crew get relatively normal lives is so incredibly pleasant. Shame about all those that didn't make it. Remind me please, Douma Hirouto, the one that received the Goubine mask from Mamoru, he's the guy that wanted to become a superstar, right?
Also Seri's head-sword is probably up there for the best ridiculous mecha weapon.

So what exactly is the deal with Zero Fafner? Is it just a beefed up fafner that can make it's own welle shield? I frankly don't remember much from the movie. Can someone sum it up?
>>
It was one of the earliest prototype Fafners, designed by grandma Nishio.

It had all kinds of shit tacked onto it to fight the Festum, but working with Mir and the technology behind that was still in the early stages, so the assimilation was insane and the machine ate her son and daughter-in-law on its first test. These being Rina and Akira's parents.

So granny quit and left the Fafner design to others, sealing the Zero Fafner away. The only reason the twins could even use it is because of the assimilation-suppressing data from Mjolnir in DA.
>>
>>13518859
Meant for
>>13518838
>>
>>13518838
Well, we don't know if it can make its own Welle Shield, but it can certainly destroy it.
The Zero is basically a vessel for its Festum battery with pretty much no restrictions, except instead of having its power channeled into manifesting SDP like the design choice that informed the Salvators, it turned its strength into powering LAZ0RZ. Presumably, when it gets piloted again, the new pilots will be able to use their personal SDPs through Zero.
It's why the hype is so strong. With Rina's buffing it's gonna be big.
>>13518859
It was THE earliest Fafner.
Also, you forgot to mention that it had Siegfried integrated which puts even more strain on the pilots.
