Its really not. The GM has objectively OP stats for what it is supposed to be, and the Dom's armor is thicker than fuck. The damn things can nearly keep up with a Zudah as well. I can accept GM Strikers and Armored GMs being able to keep up and fight evenly with their counterparts, but there's so much fucking contradiction in its shown performance that the Armored GM "being the last federal argument in speed developed to fight the Zeon Dom on its own terms" doesn't mean fuck when the stock GM's stats already put it there. And then you go watch 40 explode in eight seconds.
The GM is the clusterfuck of Gundam.

I am not here to look pretty. I am not here to catch falling children in my life saving hands. I am here to blow things up from a distance. A lot of things, from a variety of distances.
I do everything you could reasonably want from a weapon of war, I can operate in a wide range of terrains, and and I have a weapons system for every problem. You need lasers? I got lasers. You need missiles? Got it. Heavy machine guns? Got that too.

A team of Mad Cat Mk 2's is a beautiful thing.

Man, you don't understand. Something that stands a decent chance take down the biggest dudes on the battlefield by itself isn't a grunt.

Grunts need to be more annoying than dangerous unless they are in large numbers. They should also be disposable, not something that uses a fucking 375 XL engine goddamn.

As much as I love Mad Cats, they're more high performance units for aces from what I remember (although that's from my days of Mech Commander and Mechwarrior 3).

Anything in the medium range or below like a Hunchback or a Shadow Cat or something I'd say is a grunt.

Although I've been looking up some mediums and Mad Cat 3's look pretty good for mediums.

No one is going to invest in anything the size of a mecha if its performance expectation is "dies in massive droves to a single enemy unit".

If the MC wants to win every fight effortlessly, he should be fighting dudes in trucks or really big cardboard cutouts, not other mecha.

If I am going to field grunt mechs to a battlefields, those mecha better damn well have missiles in them that will actually do damage if they hit, not explode with all of the fanfare but also the effectiveness of fireworks.

Any battlefield that a Mad Cat is present on, it's gonna be one of the most powerful battlemechs present, if not the most powerful.

The Panther is perfectly respectable, it's just incredibly old.

The Genoace II from AGE. Literally just a mass-produced version of some dude's high mobility custom with a mass-produced version of the Gundam rifle. It has really simple armament. One rifle, one shield, one beam saber. It's my favorite GM.

I thought the Jegan wasn't significantly better than the GM III, save for cost effectiveness due to trading off some armor mass for some maneuverability (which is probably actually an improvement given the amount of weapons than can OHKO a GM).
