Okay guys I'm aware that I might be further ruining this thread (for which I'm very sorry) but I'm genuinely befuddled about what happened in here.

What is exactly your beef with people who grew up with Mazinger? By this thread I first thought it was just the confusion about Go Nagai's involvement with Getter and Jeeg, but some people in this thread claim it has something to do with their expectations of Nagai's work outside his mecha stuff. Except the anon who started this thread expressed the exact opposite sentiment of that. He liked Devilman but not so much Jeeg and Getter, so he probably wouldn't like Mazinger, and he most likely would like Violence Jack. So what's the problem here, that he's Italian? Have Italians got a notorious shitposting history that I have completely missed over all the 70s and 80s and Getter threads I've been to? There has to be an explanation for those responses to him in the vein of "I hate you" and "go back to Italy".

I'm asking because I've never seen this argument on /m/. I just got into Mazinger by reading the original manga (I also recently tracked down the 1999 manga for a really neat price, for which I am very happy) and I had never really cared about it prior to that. If it helps I'm a Spaniard but the only /m/ anime I like because of nostalgiafaggotry is the Eldran franchise. I'm way too young to have grown up with Mazinger. In fact I've never even watched the anime.
