It is canon in Getter that unless you are a complete psychopath (mentally) and able to punch a dudes skull open with your bare hands, piloting any Getter machine will kill you.

Skill? Fuck skill. Take a jet fighter pilot that has handled high Gs and dogfighting and throw him into a Getter machine, and he will come out the other side inexplicably dead.

You have to be the exact shade of edgy that the writers like, or the Getter will come up with a reason for you to die as punishment for using it.

Piloting a Getter is as physically straining as flying the toughest real life jets/space rockets/etc. You don't have to be superhuman, just a tough bastard. However, mentally speaking, you have to be a daredevil to survive it.

I object to the idea that only psychopaths can pilot Getters. Given enough time to train their bodies and minds, anyone can - look at Gai from Shin VS Neo Getter, the only thing it seems he can do is eat but he pilots arguably the strongest and hardest to use form of Neo Getter (Plasma whateverthefuckitscalled is either as strong or stronger than Plasma Thunder, just less focused, and the switch from tank mode to walker and handling the weaponry makes me think Neo 3 would be harder than 1's "point and shoot" by far.)

I agree. In the manga series at least, there were a lot of Getter pilots. Getter Robo Go showed and mentioned pilots outside of the core team (mostly people who eventually died or quit). There were two extra teams of pilots and even more trainees in Shin Getter, and there were at least seven different Getter teams in Arc.

I'm not sure you've actually read any Getter because that's utter horseshit. When Saotome is sending out people to scout for pilots he's getting them to look for skilled athletes, not psychopaths. He also pilots one himself. Also, when people die they are noted to die because they weren't strong enough physically to handle it, not because they weren't insane enough.

Shin Getter has a cockpit in the waste area, if you're the Bear or Eagle pilot (or whatever equivalent). Jaguar doesn't worry though because Shin 3 is pretty much a bulky motherfucker and you won't be doing large amounts of vertical movements. Black's a no though.

It was a Plasma Getter in the first place, and Get-machines tend to not be even remotely threats until you start looking at Emperor/Saint Dragon/Shin G levels (Shin G doesn't have Get Machines, mind, that's why it's on that list)
