Why doesn't the scientists of Gundam but the same amount of effort they do on mobile suits and apply it towards military aircrafts and tanks?
Minovsky particles faggot.
>>11114970
You can't have good tanks and planes in a mecha show, because then the audience would be left wondering why they aren't constantly roflstomping the mecha at every turn.
>implying implications
>>11114980
>implying they don't
>>11114970
A lot of MA are basically just space ships, typically with arms
Turns out they're not always that great
>>11115010
Mobile Armors are great but they can't breach the character shields of the main character's suit.
>>11115027
Didn't help that the Bigro's pilot was kind of a dingus.
>The Gundam stuck on to me?
>He must have been knocked unconscious!
>That means I can take my time destroying him in a dramatic fashion!
>OH SHIT I WAS WRONG NO BLAAAAGH
Because the show is called Mobile suit Gundam, not Spaceship Gundam or Battletank Gundam
>>11114970
Because tanks and aircraft are shit in space which is where most of the Gundam series takes place.
>>11115103
What if it's a giant Gundam transforming into a giant Spaceship?
>>11115124
That reminds me.
>>11114980
What are you talking about? Mechs would dominate tanks and jets easily.
>>11114970
Because Tomino made the mistake of giving mobiles suits a tactical role better filled by half a dozen other military platforms if you let them work.
Consider how often battleships covered in guns, usually firing the exact same weapons that mobile suits carry, are unable to hit jack shit despite waves of fire.
Battlesuits shooting mobile suits out of the sky sells less gunpla.
>>11115148
How?
How, in a world where the same advances in weapons and technology that are utilized by mechs (i.e. beam weaponry) are applied to tanks and planes would mechs be able to "dominate them easily?"
Explain carefully.
>>11115181
Because they're cool.
>>11115181
How would tanks ever hope to fight a mech in glorious hand-to-hand combat if the tanks do not have arms?
>>11115195
So is a space fighter that is basically just a beam saber with an engine on the back, designed for the pilots to turn on the beam cutter on front and ram into anything they want to punch clean through it.
Such a fighter would cost a fraction of the cost of a mobile suit, the beam would act as a shield against incoming fire coming at it from ahead, and it could tear right through mobilesuits and battleships alike.
And the pilots would be notorious badasses just for the sheer balls of steel it takes to fly a ships whose primary attack is to kamikaze multiple times per battle and survive.
>>11115201
By shooting them?
>>11115201
By penetrating the mobile suits with their giant long barrel and repeatedly ramming into it before finally releasing their load?
>>11115211
>bringing a gun to a fist fight
>>11115245
>still insisting on having a fistfight when the other guy has a gun
>>11115242
>>11115206
Now is not the time for mechanical erotica, /m/.Or is it?
>>11115250
Not like you'll be able to fire the gun after being decked in the face.
>>11115181
Because tanks and jets would be limited by having to incorporate an minervoski drive in order to access beam weaponry, then they have to deal with the lowered ammo acount that is not easly replenished on the field, and finaly the increased likely hood of a reactor exploding due to the more compact frames.
Tanks would get to be 40k sizes due to the increased bulk required for the generator/beam cannon and have to deal with the problem that any attacks to the weakpoints I,E sides or back has a chance of turning the tank into a nuke. This compounds with the far more limmited and difficult to replenish ammo supply.
Jets also have to deal with the increased bloat, but assuming they can still fly they are given a unguided weapon that that puts the flying brick in even more danger and again the high probability that every Jet shot down is now a nuke
Mobile suits can hold ground much like tanks but unlike eather they are much easyer to kill without setting off the reactor and can relplace their weapons when they run out rather than having to recharge their built in ones, and before you give me crap on how the jets and tanks could do that look at the gundam beam rifle, it alone is larger than a tank now try slapping treads and a generator to it
>>11115261
What face? I'm a motherfucking tank!
And you'd get repeatedly cannonized before even getting close enough to do CQC.
>>11115261
>He thinks he can get close enough to punch things before being shot with a cannon
Your only hope is some sort of magical bullshit armor like Super Alloy ZETTO or what have you.
But that only begs the question why your tanks and jets aren't being built out of this super alloy as well.
>>11115265
Listen, I don't care what you can and can't make canon. It's impressive and all, but it doesn't mean shit when you're fighting a giant robot trained in the art of boxing.
>>11115265
The Double Zeta is immune to you though. You cannot canonise that which is not canon.
>>11115272
>Your only hope is some sort of magical bullshit armor like Super Alloy ZETTO or what have you.
Who says you can't intercept the shells with a well-timed punch?
>>11115291
And get one of your only two weapons damaged in the process, great job.
>my face can stop fists
>>11115291
Assuming you're able to pull that off, congratulations, your robot is now missing its fist, it having been destroyed by the massive anti-armor shell it just plowed directly into.
>>11115295
>And get one of your only two weapons damaged in the process
Put all your armour on the fists, problem solved.
>>11115295
Not if my fists release incredibly powerful sonic booms that deflect the shells. It's like I'm really in the first grade again.
>>11115295
You say it like I don't have back up fists prepared for such an occasion.
>>11115300
But then the entire rest of your suit gets vulnerable, and the fists, now with a mech's worth of armor around them, are too heavy to intercept any shell in time. You dead.
But muh AMBAC
>>11114970
From the look of the trojan horse, it seems they've put more than enough effort into military aircraft
>>11115264
>gundam is 45-60 tons
>It's rifle alone is larger than a 70 ton tank
That explains how it flies around so quick, whatever it's made of is practically lighter than air.
>>11114983
oh cool a support unit
>>11116138
It is truly a devil
>>11116138
Not air, but the Wing Gundams are made of material that is less dense than water for sure
>>11115210
That sounds lame
Like that one giant jet-ski boss in AC4A. It was fucking retarded.
>>11116221
Still doesn't change the fact that Leopard looks like shit.
>>11117363
Airmaster best girl.
>>11115181
In the UC, there's a heavy reliance on visual targeting due to the warping nature Minovsky interference has on a battlespace. An 18m tall robot places the cameras at a greater elevation, giving a better field of vision. It also probably mitigates the problem of limited turret traverse rates. Fighter aircraft and tanks do appear in large numbers during the One Year War, but after the war mobile suits were developed to the point where they could fill any necessary role, including artillery support and atmospheric flight/air superiority.
In After Colony, it was also suggested that the mobile suit was partly developed because humans would view humanoid machines differently making them a symbolic weapon.
why can't we all just get along?
>>11117268
It's also almost certainly less dense than styrofoam.
>>11119396
front tracks of the hidolfr looks like a merkava
>zeon
>zion
>>11119514
hold on a sec nig you might be on to something
>>11119519
>I bet the spacenoids did this
