Any recent book on Turkish politics or foreign policy (2010 on) would be a great overview of Western influence vs. the emergence of political Islam.
I'm trying to find a decent book on the influence of Marxism in Egypt and its mixing with Islamic principles - similar to Ba'athism and Pan-Arabism in Syria and Iraq.

I meant that it's too absurd for some memester to have made up. I do think that an islamic commentator has the perspective and lack of marbles to say it though.
