Does /lit/ buy 'nice' editions of books they like?
Besides Easton Press, Franklin Library and Folio Society are there any other Publishers that regularly produce nice editions?

Everyman's library are extremelyclassy, especially if you take their dust jackets off.

I have one of those - kafka's, 'the castle' and it's decent enough.
I did pick up one of their Ulysses and returned it because the paper was about on par with US hotel bibles. Got lucky and picked up a used Franklin library one for not much more money and the difference is night and day t b h.

>$575 USD
Yeah I'll stick to my shitty paperback book that only cost $8

yeah, it's a bit much. most of folio's stuff is less than 10% of that. used market you can pick most things up for b/w 10-40 unless it's one of their limited runs.

I dont, and you just made me sad. All black pages man

These guys would make a killing selling books like this at high volume for $30 - $50
Who the fuck do they expect will pay $500+ though? Even someone making $120k+ a year is going to balk at that pricing. You pretty much have to go to billionaires as your market.

they've been in business for 70 odd years so i'm sure there's a reason why the pricing on this edition is this high.
their letterpressed shakespeares sell pretty high and people will pick them up. prices on classics as well from folio are on the high side, but people are buying them.
