you might want to work on comprehension rather than speed. it's a meal, not a race.

You should not be trying to improve how fast you read, you should be trying to improve your comprehension of the text you are reading.

If you want to improve the speed of your reading, I think you can really only do it for popular fiction, trying to speed up your reading of a challenging text is unproductive.
