What kind of glove are you meant to wear when reading old rare books so you don’t fuck them up?
Gloves designed not to damage the books.

Fingerless. And yawn loudly after you kick your feet up at your Uni's library. I was at Leuven reading out of Husserl's copy of Being and Time when I came across his marginal note that simply said "what?" I spit my coffee all over the girl next to me but my fingerless gloves made me do it with style. How could Husserl be so dumb?

You want to make sure to minimize reactivity caused by exposure to foreign materials, so you need gloves made from other old rare books

gloves made of noble (i.e., chemically inert) gases cooled to solid form
Nitrile would be the most affordable and easy to get, but get them relatively thin so you can still feel. There's also nylon or cotton and those would be washable.
Now that I'm no longer a brainlet I can just use telekinesis to read books desu.
just thin cotton gloves

Cloth gloves. However, cloth can leaves fibers stuck on old paper, which isn't ideal, so well-washed bare hands are sometimes better.
