We should all just worship the god of the ontological argument, Christianity is false.

I wish I could recommend The Golden Bough but it's dry af. Read an edited version.
But, The Outsider and The Perennial Philosophy really shaped my spirituality.

The library is unironically a good resource for this type of thing, however ape and most of the posters are insufferable brainlets when they try to discuss anything outside of their niches.

Not really. I am hesitant to say taoteching[spoiler/] because all the threads popping up about it and people fronting like they understand it is perfectly mocking my commitment to it, so I hesitate.

Other than that, unless ur trying to be a historian or a anthropologist or you have a ridiculous amount of guiltless time to spend, in which case I would recommend nothing less than Frazers Golden Bough, Id say stick to YouTube videos and safari entries

i like how the irish monks record things (both in ireland and in places like denmark etc)

it's a bit like stories where humans and dinosaurs are running around together, except it's monks and witches and gods. it makes it seem like pagan gods were working like christian god promised he would work when the monks showed up, like validating the religion before was magic makes the new religion even more magic.

buile suibhne, clann lir and things like that where the monk might as well be a good magician, or the voyage of st brendan where weird kinda pagan stories about christianity spring up are the kind of ones i'm thinking of.

i've been looking for a book on sami religion/folklore so i might as well hijack your thread in case we have sami scholars lurking, any recs appreciated.

Gershom Scholem
the Zohar

oh - European religions?

Taschen's Alchemy and Mysticism is a good starting point - but only a starting point
