I've been lurking for a while but I can't tell what is a meme and what's the truth around here. I wanna get into reading but I can't tell if /lit/ leans right or left. I don't want to get baited into reading some Marxist garbage.
>>9909952
hold on to your political views for now because they importantly paint your experience with any text that has any kind of relevant social commentary.
once youve developed this long enough, youll soon realize dichotic understandings of phenomena are to be transcended.
you dont have to rush. take your time and enjoy it. and in general, this board leans more towards left-centrist with the exception of /pol/ spillover.
>I wouldn't dare contaminate my mind with all perspectives
You aren't allowed to oppose something until you understand it desu
>>9909952
use the 2017 chart instead
both are fine but the 2017 has less trash (murakami)
also this is a literature board take your /pol/ shit elsewhere
>>9909952
>I wanna get into reading but I can't tell if /lit/ leans right or left. I don't want to get baited into reading some Marxist garbage.
This sentiment is like that of my fundamentalist parents who are wary of my reading modern-era philosophy or other religious texts. If you think your mind can be contaminated by discourse, you are making a statement about how little you actually know. Why the hell are you afraid of something you haven't read? Implicit in your fear is the gnawing idea that your politics is naive and founded on unjustified principles. Discursive dialectic is supposed to contrive an intellectual response from you. If you are a rightist Marxism is a challenge leveled toward you that you must address in order to justify your politics. You cannot understand capitalism without reading Smith and Marx.
I'm a revolutionary leftist and I find most discussion on here to be apolitical aside from the pol shitposting.

How do you know you disagree with it if you haven't even read it? Are you a magician?
>>9910095
Spoooky
>>9910095
You dont have to buy anything, just go to your local library moron or find the communist manifesto or whatever online.
>>9910095
Holy shit mate
>>9910146
>the communist manifesto
Can we please stop this meme this is not good Marx.
>>9910029
>No Lolita
Every time.
>>9910156
It's a good introduction
Basically a longer version of that pamphlet of Engel's "The principles of communism" or whatever its name was
>>9910131
I don't have to read every book by Marx in order to understand socialism is retarded
>>9910183
No one's ever read everything by Marx, the cunt wrote a lot.
But you do need to come to an understanding of the ideas he and other far-left thinkers presented because they are important.
I'm interested in Chinese history, it'd foolish of me not to read Mao's Red Book just because he was an utter cunt.
>>9910198
Okay let me rephrase the question to get the answer I am ultimately looking for. Do people like Dostoevsky because his books are political or do they like him because his books are just good.
>>9910227
A book can be good and carry a message anon.
And people like dostoyevski because his books are good.
I like him and I'm a dirty left wing jew controlled cultural marxist who wants to destroy the white race, even though he was conservative.
For how long could you vote on the lists? And when does the next one come out?
>>9910227
Are you 12? The fuck is this post.
>>9910885
Very helpful
>>9910888
People can like a book for various reasons, even if it challenges their views; it could be because of context or because it's simply that good. By choosing to refer to works of literature as "marxist garbage" you just appear as a closeminded brainlet. Try reading some light novels instead, and don't forget to go easy on the carrots. The books in the top 100 aren't for boys desu.
>>9910029
Take your fake chart elsewhere. Don't fall for this chart OP, or anyone else for that matter.
Read:
Dialetic of Enlightenment (Adorno)
And: Phenomenology of the End (Berardi)
Suicide (Durkheim)
Capitalism and Schizophrenia (Deleuze)
The Technological Society (Ellul)
Industrial Society and Its Future (Kaczynski)
>>9910926
I didn't know Marxists get buthurt so easy. Actually, I did.
>>9911002
Constructive answer. Try to not get triggered this much by the books you'll get memed into reading.
>>9909952
You're on the marxist board and you can fuck off if you don't like it.
>>9911038
>Lit
>Marxist
Keep telling yourself that comrade
>>9911070
thay are babby's first reaction image
>>9911060
It is, comrade :^)
>>9911070
You must be new here. It's called a reaction image. This is an image board after all. Usually if a picture is a fitting reaction then a lot of people will save the image and use it as needed. This accounts for the constant appearance of certain images over time.
>>9911079
Reaction images are for autistics, it's been scientifically proven.
>>9909952
Fuck off
If you are scared to read because you think someone may have a different political opinion than you, just go back to one of your safe spaces. Literature is our means of learning and experiencing the varieties of human expression. You aren't ready to swallow a pill that big. Go back to your containment board.
Fuck this board.
>>9911113
I think I'll stay just to piss you off
>>9909952
/lit/ leans right and is a very catholic board. some posters think it's funny to larp as communists to annoy people.
>>9911178
I am a commie thought
Dude, politically I'm unironically NatSoc but Victor Serge's Memoirs of a Revolutionary is one of the best books I've ever read. There's valuable litterature everywhere
>>9909963
Stay delusional, libcuck.
>>9910036
>I'm a revolutionary leftist
Just another way of saying you sit down when you pee.
>>9909963
>this board leans more towards left-centrist with the exception of /pol/ spillover.
Uhmmmm
I'm sorry, forgot the christians who lost their way and try to find it by reading Gene Wolfe.
>>9911219
what was the last three books youve read and your gpa in college?
> all the commies who forget /lit/ is a Catholic board
>>9909952
hi there anon.
welcome i guess.
ive been lurking here almost two years.
1) infinite jest is well written but anyone that writes like that is clearly dealing with some shit. any book that is doing something right people will love.
any book that is doing something right people will hate.
same scenario for atlas shrugged
2) most posters here are under 25 which means alot of people here are dumb as fuck
(as am i, over 25) ALTHOUGH sometimes the insight ive read here is brilliant and means alot to me.
3) i wouldnt worry about getting 'memed' too much. most people do not read and if they do its one book every two years so you're already head and shoulders above the regular pleb.
