Are there any substantive critiques of postructuralism that come from within the continental tradition? The closest things I can find are Paglia's and (Alan) Bloom's, but they're filthy Americans

Or any thing that presents a radical break with French theory from Derrida to now

Start with the Marxists
>>
They argued amongst each other all the time. Everyone wanted a piece of Foucault, I swear. Baudrillard scholars even wrote Forget Baudrillard.

From what's left of the Frankfurt School (yes) you have pic related here: >>9905345

Still in Continental philosophy you have Manifesto of New Realism by Maurizio Ferraris et al. from Italy's Nuovo Realismo.

On the other side of the pond are the Speculative Realists.

And does DFW count?

Danke, I heard Juergen was difficult, should I be prepared with just a basic grasp of continental phil (not including anything contemporary)?
>>
>>9905384
lol

You can read his work on the Public Sphere because it's written like a history book, but the man takes not only from the whole continental philosophy, but from analytic (Wittgenstein, JL Austin) and pragmatist (mainly Peirce) traditions as well.

So to "simplify" things:

Greeks
Bible
Continental philosophy: Kant, Hegel, Heidegger
Classical sociology: Marx, Dilthey, Mead, Durkheim, Weber, Talcott Parsons
Pragmatism: Peirce, Dewey
Analytic philosophy: Wittgenstein, J.L. Austin
Psychology: Freud, Jean Piaget
Critical theory: Horkheimer, Adorno, Marcuse

At this point you begin to understand the value of history of phil, including 20th century.

I have at least a passing knowledge of everything but the sociology, so I will try to bone up for Slotedjielksnxk soon. Any other sweet tips?
>>
>>9905413
Well, sociology is kind of a big deal because the Frankfurt School's real name is Institute for Social Research, and that's kind of what Habermas's being doing for eternity.

Habermas does the continental thing and namedrops author after author, so I hope for you you're about as knowledgeable as advertised.

Baudrillard wrote "Forget Foucault" which is an interesting read. Generally, Baudrillard gets lumped in with a bunch of other post-modern theorists, but he doesn't much resemble people like Foucault or Derrida.

Also, see Accelerationist writers like Nick Land and Nick Srnicek and their antagonists in the deep ecology/environmentalist sphere. Both of these fields essentially try to create new 'grand narratives' as opposed to the notion that history can only be seen from subjective viewpoints.

How do I into deep ecology

I'm honestly not that familiar yet, I've mostly just consumed various pop-environmentalist theories. Here's a list I made awhile ago, with the purpose of trying to learn about these things.

Ecotheology/Ecosophy
Voluntary Human Extinction Movement
Neo-Primitivism/Anarcho-Primitivism
Green-Anarchy
Ted Kaczynski
Deep Ecology
Al Gore
Thomas Sebeok
Piere Chardin
Ecofeminism
Gaianism
Arne Naess
Murray Bookchin
Jacques Ellul
Kropotkin
John Zerzan

But seriously, danke
>>
>>9906771
Shit, the guy has spent 40+ years obsessing over global warming, 8 of which he LARPed as a vice president. I'm impressed he was able to get anywhere near politics, and it isn't a stretch to consider him a foremost expert on enviornmentalism.
