I suggest the works of Aryeh Kaplan for introductory readings in the kabbalah.

Sefer Yetzirah is the oldest text in the tradition. Very arcane but very wise.

Bahir is also interesting. I believe it's the second oldest.

The Zohar is very long and I have not read it. Supposedly very interesting.

From there you can look into Isaac Luria.

Of course, it's recommended to study this stuff in your forties.

In any case, you got Scholem doing some interesting work (friend of Benjamin's) as well in the modern period.

There's an interesting kabbalistic hermeneuticist named Wolfson I think too.
