I mean of course but we should preserve the Mythos of Ulysses because it distracts pseuds
>beating Joyce in a fight
Not much of an accomplishment, dude could hardly see.
Well you're definitely right about the second part, at least. Joyce was a reedy, pencil-necked fucker, while Melville was a sailor who actively exercised.

>prove me wrong

He would have to actually beat Hemmingway in a fight since he was Joyce's voluntary bodyguard
Now that'd be a fight I'd pay to see

I wonder if anyone has ever spoken about fighting Hemingway because of Joyce.
I'd love to read some interviews about it.

Melville could have kicked Hemingway's ass too. Hemingway was the ultimate fake tough guy, the one time he actually tried to box somebody he got his ass beat. Meanwhile, as mentioned, Melville was actually a sailor and adventurer.

Yeah I'd believe that, would be great to watch Hemmingway start crying like a girl once Herm busts him apart

A better book? Not hard. Better written? No fucking way.
> could completely destroy Joyce in a fight
