You did it.
You just realized that the current phrase "platonic love" misinterprets and misapplies the platonic philosophy of love
Hope you enjoyed your revelation, now you can separate the two again as they have basically nothing to do with each other beyond the name

This was me when I was a classicslet reading Mythology by Hamilton for the first time and realizing where all these words come from
Yep. Greeks had (have?) one word for romantic love(philos) and one for fraternal love(erastos). When normalfags say "platonic" love they're referring to the latter
>tfw thomism refers to thomas aquinas

I think "platonic love" could be described as "love for an idea", so it's not a physical thing, but an ideal one.

I read in some secondary nature that the term specifically referred to one of his male-male relationships and they supposedly didn't bang at all. They seemed really close though. Still pretty gay. I forget the other guys name and where I read it though.

You reversed them, buddy. And "erastos" isn't a word. Erastes means lover, and philos refers to a friend, not friendship as such.
ερως/eros=Romantic Love
φιλια/philia=Friendship, Fraternal Love
αγαπη/agape=Care (Love in New Testament Greek)

I only realised 2 months ago the guy in that gif isn't Keanu Reeves.
